This practice started in madina, so the matter of Kadija r.a doing it shouldn't really be an issue. Similarly, wife of Pharoah and Maryum a.s were following a different shariah so it is not really an issue as well.
I am very curious, though, about your evidence regarding Ayesha r.a and Fatima r.a not covering their faces in front of non-Mahrams once the order came about. So essentially, later in life . Especially because I've read a lot of material that says to the contrary.
I'd be interested in learning the other side of this.
As far as i know Daughter of Mohammad PBUH fatima (RA) his wives khadija and ayesha R A. mother of Jesus christ RA Mariam, wife of pharoh of egypt are highest examples to follow for muslim women and none of these women RA ever covered their faces like they do now these days..
Muslims are to follow them and they only covered their beauty the atteactive parts from strangers as to keep modisty. There is no question of hiding one's face.
