What's new

Music from two Bangla- West Bengal and Bangladesh (no abusive words)

My all time favorite from opar Bangla, Nachiketa and Kabir Sumon (They are related to epar Bangla also). What I like from opar Bangla singers is the deep thoughts in their songs.

Nilanjana is a deep one by nachiketa. There are sequels to the song, three parts. I hated, really hated the last part.

I never thought this way Nilanjona songs are sequel. Just listened. Liked most the 1st song. Which was close to our school days. As you remind me the sad song. I bring the coffee house. Which is also so hit in BD, that they made a full serial based on that.

I hated the way Nachiketa puts an end to the story of Nilanjana. As you said, most of us can connect to the first song.

Didn't take long for @jamahir to try hijack this thread into another babe thread SHEESH ;)

Love this thread! Will have to listen to many of these songs/music later.

In the spirit of brotherhood....I must admit I always enjoyed this great rendition of this beautiful anthem

The Great Manna Dey has a really good rendition too, I remember the old vinyl my grandpa had of it.

Chitra Singh's Bangla 'ghazals'.
She is Jagjit Singh's wife. Such a soothing heavenly voice.

The question was only for @jamahir. He's seen enough BD models in the other thread to pass the quiz. :D

Who is jamahir? Is he Bengali (or Bangladeshi)?

blasphemy!!

Timeless creation by Bankim, immortalized by Hemanta's heavy voice.

@Joe Shearer @Bang Galore

WHY O WHY DID YOU PUT UP THIS JAZZED UP ABOMINATION?

We used to sing the damn' song in school, and to hear this is appalling.

Can anyone help me get the songs from Madhu Bose's Ali Baba? At least one of them, Ami khwab dekhechhi' was fata-fati.
