No he can't do so anymore and will have to follow procedures of impeachment.

And powers of impeachment should remain. However this time around the powers of impeachment are shared.

Article 58-2b does not exist. To impeach someone the NSC would have to be called in. The politicians hold more power and with the Judiciary they would have even more.

There is a huge difference - Zia punished those who didn't agree with his medieval, intolerant and barbaric interpretation of Islam - Musharraf punished those who chose to implement that barbaric, medieval and intolerant version of Islam.

If only we had not had the nuke test,supported the taliban under military pressure,closed down the jihad in kashmir,accepted every wish of the west and attacked and bombed our own people, NS/BB govt would have put pakistan in a lot more better postion then what is now.

Was it not the army that was supporting the taliban?
If BB or NS had told the army during there stint in power that we should not support the taliban or the kashmir struggle there governments would have been overthrown or at least badly destabalized by the army.
It is the army that has supported the taliban and all the jihadi outfits not the politicians.

If the PA was in charge then they should have listened to the PA. Obviously we weren't. We supported them to the extent that the Anti-Pakistan Northern Alliance doesn't come to power.

atlast mushy doffed his uniform but does that make any difference to him?? i guess no; because the guy who has replaced mushy is quite loyal to him so that way mushy still holds a strong place in army and not to forget he is our president quite a strong one...so he will be enjoying the same status and power for next five years or may be more because he is reallly good at moulding the constitution acc to his own needs ...therefore everything is still the same for him.

i saw mushy's pic on yahoo in which he was wiping his crorcodile tears off after swearing as a civilian president....i wonder was he using glycerin or what ...damn he is a good actor.

Why do you want a confrontation between Army and the Civilian President of Pakistan? Sheesh sometimes you guys almost speak treachery in your quest for self-serving politics.

Kiani will not be stepping the army's foot off the pedal, the army will continue to hunt down the militants and terrorists. Kayani has spent time in the United States, so he is a pro-Western officer. Not to mention he has friendly relations with Musharraf and will not suddenly shoot Pakistan in the foot by ending the war in Waziristan/Swat. What people are saying is that he is a professional soldier not interested in politics, which is good to hear.

guys, how long does musharraf have in office, if he keeps on getting elected. One more term im guessing, right?

Im not too sure about the political system in Pakistan, because we have a parliament shouldn't we have a Prime Minister who has more power? Musharraf became President because he was head of the army, im guessing.

Whether one is a General or a Sepoy, it is a very heart wrenching experience when one retires.

But then, I reckon you will not understand the emotions involved.
