Musharraf Era was best in 63-year history of Pakistan: Dr. Salman Shah

Mushy had cooked up a lot of data during his tenure..it's a well known fact... othewise in 2008 why did pakistan went to IMF for loans..?

.
Musharaf Era was really good dont remember the other eras so cant compare & thts true but Mr Salman should get knowledge before comparing as intrest rate in inida is higher than 6% (dont know why some ppls exagerate things when it comes to india)
& those countries mentioned here like US & EU they dont have higher inflation so they can lower intrest rates & which is also the cause of current recession.

Plus the basis of the current situation were created by Mr Mushharaf & his advisors (more specificaly) started in 2007 which ruined every thing he did till 2007.

+1.

The number of research papers quadrupled due to HEC initiatives during 1999-2008 period. There were many new higher education institutions and foreign research programmes. Really far-reaching policies. Musharraf was a true visionary.

I also liked his 3 irrigation projects: Greater Thar Canal, Kachi Canal and Rainii canal for 3 differenet provinces. Then, Lowari tunnel, various national highways, ship building and buying, construction of Neelum-Jhelum hydro-power project, health initiatives, strengthening of armed forces with new weaponry, reviving the space program and envisioning the energy corridor and lobbying for it.

It's just unfortunate that he came at a time when US about to go on a Global WoT.

May be it was fortunate for the country that it was him, I have often thought, what could have happened had the command of our nation were in the hands of Nawaz Sharif or Benazir Bhutto.

.
Let me add that there were 2 visionary military leaders in the history of Pakistan.

Zia-ul-Haq dreamed of a free Central Asia and free Kashmir. His dream was mostly fulfilled, he worked for the freedom of Kashmir too. Had the Khalistan movement been successful, Kashmir would automatically be cut-off from mainland India.

For Musharraf, I would say that he is also a dreamer and a statesman. He is not a part of history yet; He is still in the realm of current affairs. But he knows the game (The new great game) and he has played it well.

1. Imran Khan
2. Musharraf

Face it guys. I could acutally pay for my food, I could actually walk around Karachi, there were businesses booming, there were foreign companies interested for investing and only in Musharrafs term.

I must disagree, the big numbers generated by Musharraf were owed to the US aid. Yes he managed to do some positives with them, but nothing remarkable.

China's New Growth Challenger Is Pakistan: Mukherjee (Correct) - Bloomberg
By Andy Mukherjee - June 6, 2005 22:15 EDT
According to figures released over the weekend by Pakistan's Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, the $110 billion economy is estimated to have grown 8.4 percent in the year ending on June 30. Among the world's 10 most-populous nations, that rate is exceeded only by China, where gross domestic product expanded 9.5 percent last year. India recorded 6.9 percent GDP growth in the 12 months ended March 31.

The global WOT could not have been executed without Musharraf. He was a dirty little pawn.

The after-effects of his poisonous decisions are still making their way through Pakistan's bloodstream.

Utter non sense. Completely flawed logic, if growth during his tenure was funded by the US why wasn't Ghadari able to achieve even higher % pf growth? after all, he was the recipient of so called 'non-military aid' which amounted to 1.5 billion USD annually.

Nothing remarkable? 9% growth is nothing?

IK is yet to hold office. You cannot speculate on what or how he will deliver. Musharraf has a proven record. No one can deny this.
