I see that you are a fan of Ayub Khan. But, do you know that he failed to act on
China's invitation to attack Kashmir in
1962. We never had such a golden opportunity to free Kashmir and only God knows when again we will have another one like that again.
When Pakistani scientists tried to convince him for the need of a
nuclear weapon, he declined saying if the need arises we will
procure one from the
US.
Compare that with Musharraf, who strengthened Pakistan's nuclear program, a nuclear Command and Control authority was created which is still headed by one the '
Musharraf Boys'; Lt Gen (retd) Khalid Ahmed Kidwai.
A Bush administration official told the Times in 2008:
"Every morning I could see what was happening inside the Soviet nuclear system. I've never had a morning when I could inside Pakistan's."
All the
delivery systems were consolidated during Musharraf era: air, land and sea.
As far as
Kashmir cause is concerned, Musharraf brought it back to the
eyes of the world by Kargil war. What was a winning situation for Pakistan was lost when
Nawaz Sharif went to Washington
wagging his tail.
If you search the web, only persons
exaggerating the Kargil war losses are Nawaz Sharif, Ziauddin Butt, anti-Musharraf ex-army personnel and the
enemies of Pakistan whose job is to spread disinformation.
@Kas786: Have you seen any
single grave of a woman or a child died in
Lal Masjid raid?
All the persons who died there were
armed militants and pawns of foreign powers (knowingly or unknowingly)!
I agree with one point. We missed Kashmir golden opportunity during Ayub's time ... That is something i regret....
Just in case if you are wondering, the Kashmir issue was solved between Nawaz Sharif and Vajpai. I'm not a supporter of Sharrifs however, this was one good cause... This was as follows:
Kashmir Valley and Gilgit-Baltistan --- Pakistan
Jammu, Ladakh, and Hindu dominated areas --- India
If you are a Musharraf supporter, then maybe you should highlight why he touched the Kargil issue to avoid that agreement and why didn't do anything after coup to solve Kashmir?
Great, he just made Pak Army impotent... by using jihadis, who eventually died in thousands...
By the way, Musharraf ordered the use of phosphorus bombs on all masjid. Does any country uses that on its own civilians?
Yup, his Prime Minister was Shaukeet Aziz, an imported prime minster, a person who probably never comes to Pakistan.
What the heck was he doing during lal masjid?=== wasn't he out to eat kulfi or paan?
As written in Musharraf' line of fire, he accepted the fact that we earned money by giving people to the U.S. First of all, that shouldn't have had happen. Where is your nationalism? If you are a nationalistic leader, the you would assume responsibility for the protection of your people.
Secondly, has that money put to good use in Pakistan? Seems like it was used for personal investments...
Advanced weapons are not necessarily needed to fight war. Look how wee defeated India in 1965. People gave their lives by sitting under Indian tanks. So yeah imo, weapons should be secondary. We a'int gonna fight with India, forget that... Use logic to save Pakistan first. When the country collapses on its own, it will start selling Nuclear weapons like North Korea.
The time has come, where no would actually use Nuclear weapons. It would be suicide for Pakistan if we drop bombs next door. All the damn radiation will kill us too, just use your logic.
LMAO @ you, when you say that Musharraf was keeping land, air, and sea well. If god forbid there is war, will Karachi as a capital survive? lol, Indians always gets us. Wheather its from blockade or from surrounding us from quantity. Don't forget 1971...
The nuclear program is drama and their to show our ego. Is getting most number of nuclear bombs better than getting most number of people educated?
Ayub may be was an american puppet, however, he changed his attitude against them. Read his book.
His change in love for Pakistan got him killed. In fact, all army generals like the U.S, at some point, i'm even going to say General kayani is on the same boat as well. His change regarding U.S is more or less like the Ayub now.
Did Musharraf and Zia-ul Haq have any regrets ???
Learn from Ayub Khan. Economic prosperity should be on our first thing in mind. Without prosperity, we cannot possibly get good weapons, even if we have to...
Don't forget that Islamabad became a capital city, a place a lot better than Karachi. Its perfect strategically, and perfect showing Pakistan rich and green to improve our image.
Most of the damns we have today are from Ayub's era. What did Musharraf do?
Your whole country was moving along industrial revolution during Ayub years.
Were there terrorist organizations like MQM, Jamaat e-islami, Taliban, Al-Qaeda?
Look how he changed PIA, Railroad, Modernization of Agriculture, exports, etc...
He even was convinced about Abdus Salam (the nonbel piece prize winner) and succeeded him to lead Pakistan's Space Agency
IMO, Ayub's model was like Turkey, Malaysia, Singapore. They are successful if you take a look at them now.
He even fought in the 1971 war as a general. Did Mushy and Zia volunteer to give life?
Musharraf escaped from Army during 1965 war and went to Karachi to hide. Is this your brave leader?
Musharraf was trying to break Pakistan, by having created political divisions, social personal interests, Baluchistan issues, and by bringing in Indian culture, to destroy your own cultural norms. As for Ayub, he avoided that and kept Pakistan safe and in a good image across the globe.
