A benefit of being a part of large country like India is that you have resources both Human and Physical that can brainstorm , build necessary institution and infra to help out the country in long run.
BD for example prolly lacks a Planning Commision or Niti Aayog that can set expectations for 5, 10, 15 years..
It neither has a proper Election Commission to conduct democratic elections..as of now its a crypto-dictatorship under Hasina..
It never developed/planned urban development beyond Dhaka..everything is centralized in Dhaka ..creating a highly congested urban sprawl with slum like living conditions..
Meanwhile its other cities like Khulna, Chittagong looks like a tier 3 or 4 Indian city..they never developed expertise in being self -reliance..most let foreign companies built there infra ..etc
Just look at their Railways it is almost time travel back to British Bengal times..no proper network of expressway..or even 4 lane highways.. till now they only have Dhaka-Chittagong and Dhaka-Mymensingh highway as operational..and whatever they are building takes forever...due to corruption and lack of oversight..
In short all this hulla-ballu of BD being next Asian SuperTiger is a farce..they would have been better off if they were part of India..but then who wants to deal with a radicalized population of hum do humare 12
