Mumbai rioters to be charged with murder

You live in US right. Then you should know in US if a suspect commits robbery in a store but if the police intervene and accidentally kills the store clerk, the suspect will be tried for murder as well.

In India, I believe this is the first time it is happening and a very good precedent. You see before all sundry human rights organizations and NGOs will get involved and cry wolf and ask for enquiry for police firing. But now, the roles have reversed and these people have to pay dearly. And going forward, taking this case as a precedent, any organizations will be afraid of riots else if a murder happens, they will be held responsible.

LOL... Dont bring USA to compare with India. USA will be offended. USA police knows how to properly use arms and apply laws to it. In USA a police can be tried as well for excessive use of force as well. Its a thin line.

The problem was direction from senior officers to take action.

In any case it should be SOP to shoot someone trying to snatch your gun. I'm sure it is so in practically every country.

We should change our SOP for shooting at violent mobs.

The commanding officer or any higher officer should shoot only. Not the constables with SLR or 303.

It will make the casualities less and a bullet from revolver or 9mm will do reduced damage than a .303 or SLR round.

I know them personally, i wont accept commenting on my friends...People are definitely there like our great APJ Kalam as well. I never said every one is good, mean time every one is not bad either.

Yeah, in my college days some muslim guys supported pakistan during cricket matches and we opposed, in that also muslims are there to oppose those guys who supported pakistan. This is my personal experience, so at any point i wont accept that they can't be brother. May not be all, but certainly many can..

Don't think the Mumbai police are going to take this lightly, remember the encounters, they were instrumental in wiping out most of the underworld in almost a year's time. No police force takes someone injuring their personnel lightly - these @ssholes have some major trouble coming their way.
