Khujliwal has announced subsidies of 7800 crore
Govt of Delhi only has 1700 Crores as spare , he will have to cut annual development projects just to fund his promises
People were Idiots to vote for Khujliwal

.
Great investment. It's time to replicate it in all cities with over 1 million population. I have heard Socialist republic of Delhi has scrapped Monorail in Delhi. Please post any link to prove it.

AAP govt not keen, monorail may go off track

not officially scrapped as of now but due to Krazywall's super socialist schemes Delhi doesn't have enough funds for even small scale development projects forget big ones like monorail

In a city like Bombay, the residents of those very slums make up an integral part of the user base of public transportation systems. The monorail is no different. On a side note, the city has fewer slum pockets existing today than ever before, with an apparent rapid decline over the past decade and a half, mainly because of slum rehabilitation and land redevelopment. To give you an example off the top of my head, vast slum pockets used to exist where the Imperial twin Towers, Tardeo, now stand.
To be honest its a rip off for Bombay that it is getting a monorail.
With a population density that Bombay has, each and every transport corridor should have a Metro.

Monorail works as a feeder to Metro routes in areas of low pop. density. Considering it is Bombay, each route should be a Metro route.

I agree with you. The monorail will not solve any commutation problem. Metro is the real solution.

I'd agree with you if the alignment of the new monorail service were along a more densely populated route, but this is an excellent option for the city's eastern fringes based on its urban morphology. This system is more energy-efficient, much better at making tight turns, a lot more manoeuvrable than a standard/broad gauge metro coach, is devoid of overhead cables, and above all, is cheaper and quicker to build. Low to medium-density corridors in high density cities (like Osaka, Tokyo, KL) already have successful monorail systems supplementing mass transit systems. Some of the stations on the route are linked by walkway to their corresponding suburban railway stations, and to the citybus network (making it multi-modal).
