The thing is, when Federal laws discriminate against non-Muslims at the highest level (cannot become PM or President) when our society forces the PM to remove an Ahmadi (Atif Mian) from an economic advisory position, then you’re going to see such attitudes at the lower level too. You can’t disconnect the two.

I’m not saying that Ahmadis are Muslim, nor am I saying that people should accept them as Muslim if they don’t believe they are, but the State should not be in the business of deciding who is a Muslim. Let Allah be the judge of someone’s faith.

I’m not saying that Ahmadis are Muslim, nor am I saying that people should accept them as Muslim if they don’t believe they are, but the State should not be in the business of deciding who is a Muslim. Let Allah be the judge of someone’s faith.

I would argue the same for mormons and scientologists.

The mobs are neither controlled by the mullahs nor the state. These are grave sensitive matter for an average Muslim to entertain the thought of mahdi claimants, 2nd incarnation of jesus or direct interaction with God in a prophetic manner.

these are by law considered cults in the entire planet not just specific to Pakistan.

And here we have more ghatiya pan - first disgusting laws and discrimination against non-Muslims on holding the highest elected offices, then disgusting laws and discrimination preventing Ahmadis from calling themselves Muslims, and now even the brainwashed thugs in the lawyers community are courting the support of right-wing bigots by openly espousing hatred and prejudice.

In any civilized society, this decision of the bar association would be challenged in court and those responsible disbarred, but in Pakistan the bar association itself is going to disbar whoever challenges it's disgraceful policies.

Recently, a resolution named ‘Tahafuz-e-Namoos-e-Risalat’ was unanimously passed by lawyers of Multan bar association. According to that resolution, no non-Muslim lawyer including Ahmadis will be able to participate in the bar elections of Multan.

The resolution was presented in a ‘Tahaffuz-e-Khatm-e-Nabuwwat’ conference organized by the lawyers of district bar association of Multan. The resolution stated that the lawyers contesting bar elections will also need to submit an affidavit to prove their faith of Islam. All the participants then took oath that they believed in the finality of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

At the end of the conference, books regarding the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) were distributed among the lawyers.

This is not the first time that the minorities of Pakistan are made subject to discrimination systematically in Pakistan. Over the years, several laws have been introduced, including the ‘blasphemy laws’ that have persecuted a number of people belonging to religious minorities in Pakistan.
