This will hardly help. Dowry is banned in India too , but widespread. Those who want to indulge in it will find ways around it. All Australia needs to do practically is just wait for older Indians to die out in the next 15-20 years . Young Indians are progressive and don't believe in caste system , dowry etc

In not small number of cases the girl's parents are so particular that they give dowry to the boy,happens in my place all the time!
