Get real, Turkey has been facing defeats for about 100 years now. It's the same for everyone. Until they have the strength to match the worlds biggest nations, it'll remain the same. I take no joy in this, i consider their success my success, i consider their defeat my defeat.

Some exceptions:

• Turkey recovered the Northern Cyprus from the clutches of the Greeks
• Northern Irak is being patrolled with permanent bases
• Parts of the Northern Syria already recovered, others to follow

Ottomans didnt get to be Ottomans if they made emotional decisions like u advoctae neither did the US. Running a state is different from a personal fued.

Erdogan knows the US can hit Turkey's economy beyond repair, it is never wise to keep on fighting a loosing battle nor is it prudent to make ur people and country suffer over an ego episode.

If Mullah Omar had iota of sense he would have compromised and made a deal with US. There would be million dead Afghans still alive and millions more would not be humiliated by US Marines everyday. And India would not be dancing in Kabul. Sometimes it is wise to make tactical withdrawel.

Turkey did the right thing. On the face of world politics their is nothing like spineless it's all about how you show off and deliver your message, negotiate and get what you want. The problem of Erdogan is not that he released the pastor but that he dragged turkey into an international incident over an insignificant matter.

First he exposed the turkish justice system as a joke that can lock people without cause and than use them in some sort of a twisted hostage diplomacy.

Than he managed to turn it into an international incident by going public against the US in a matter that could and should have been resolved quietly behind the scenes.

Erdogan proved himself a caprisic person that goes back on his word , rather than a trusted ally.
