Most Pakistanis fear country headed in wrong direction: survey

However, if you request me to rate performance levels of PTI-led GOP on various issues then my feedback might surprise you.
If you rate govt on unemployment, inflation then this govt is doing a great job compared with previous govts. As it is not artificially creating a boom and bust cycle where few years of relief for common man is followed by permanent debt and deficit induced stagflation.

Please do not be quick to judge people without understanding their problems.

I am as supportive of Imran Khan as one can be (casted my vote for him in 2013 and 2018 - only for him; I never bothered otherwise). However, if you request me to rate performance levels of PTI-led GOP on various issues then my feedback might surprise you.

There are different reasons for people not being satisfied and/or happy with PTI-led GOP in the present - reasons that are affecting them in personal capacity. This does not suggest that every complainat desire return of Nawaz Sharif. I am sure that I do not - I would settle for an alternative over Nawaz Sharif on any given day.

Of-course, there are people who continue to support PPP and PML(N) through thick and thin - biased individuals for sure. However, a blind survey does not necessarily represent these individuals by and large.

I'm satisfied with them. I never expected any magic wand, my expectations are modest. I don't expect any grandiose development, because, unlike some East Asian nations, I don't see that much potential in Pakistan. Our path to prosperity is slow, but by becoming consistent and going long term, and we have to abandon bad habits and cosmetics.. living on subsidies and rent seeking behaviors. Nations have been through much worse conditions, people suffer, but through tenacity and sacrifice they overcome it and Pakistanis should be no exceptions. PML-N/PPP cannot do that as evident from their history. If IK stays for 15 years and remain consistent, great, or else we'll remain in this quagmire and keep going in cycles.

indians worried about consumer confidence in Pakistan yet have had parts of their territory conquered by China................ :disagree::

So you want the return of pmln govt where there was low inflation, low unemployment but the debts and deficits were skyrocketing nearly bankrupting the country? IK govt had to stop this mess and do corrective measures which are now hurting citizens of Pakistan.

Yeah exactly. PM is totally unaware of situation on the ground. He is vacationing in UK with his children like former runaway PM Nawaz Sharif
Why have you stop at 2018? Has economy stopped working after that ... go on and post the figures from 2018 to 2020 and than let us make a comparison between the remarkable achievements of IK and others.

Remember, IK would be singularly responsible for his fiasco. He set the bar too high and when the time of delivery has come he is under performing than his predecessors.

Dam, for me important is Pakistan and it's people I don't care who brings prosperity to my country. PPP, PMLn or PTI. But no more false promises.

How is this prosperity for the people at the cost of record debts and deficits for the country? IK can also cause record debts and deficits, and make people prosper with low unemployment and inflation. But would that prosperity be real and sustainable?

Enjoy. IK has successfully brought current account deficits under control by letting PKR float freely, causing sudden high unemployment and inflation. This should have happened slowly and less painfully if previous govts had not fixed PKR to USD artificially. Now this is happening all of a sudden causing huge problem for ordinary people. So blame previous govts for economic mismanagement, not IK who is only fixing their mess that was left behind.

We are an extremely hard to please nation.

Yet somehow surveys consistently show Pakistanis as being significantly happier/content than our neighbors, including the ones with higher economic growth, in South Asia.
Govts job is not to "please" the nation but to run the country responsibly so that when the incumbent govt is gone and another govt takes over, it is not burdened with record debts and deficits.
Can you call this economic mess work of a responsible govt or a govt that was "pleasing" the nation with artificial and unsustainable economic growth, low unemployment and low inflation only to get re-elected?

You hand over a broken car to the best car driver in the world, and expect of him to drive it with the best of his abilities. Would that formula work in reality? Would you then blame this mess on the new car driver or the ones that handed over a faulty car to the best driver in the first place?

Please do let me know when Pakistanis say the country is going in the right direction?
Uff my god..What an apathy... don't you know that masses are struggling for food twice a day, drinking dirty water, poor health facilities etc etc

Forget about Indian media. What is your own assessment is everything going right? The cost of living is killing. White collars are finding it hard let alone poor and destitute. Electricity, Sui gas, pluses, wheat, rice and sugar price of all have gone through the roof. Yet you are talking about Indian media. Worst is that PM is living in utopia. Even the staunch supporters have now left IK.
Look IK or no IK it's about the policy fundamentals which count not the personalities .... currently Pakistan's economy is passing through phase of technical correction due to exchange rate revision, can you imagine the condition of an economy which has burned $ +23 billion unnecessarily to maintain the artificial exchange rate while maintaining less than 2 billion dollars in cash as foreign reserves .... ???

This very thing happened to Pakistan in past, now when investment in dollar is no more profitable anymore as imports are decreasing due to pandemic some segments are using their access funds for hoarding of food and necessary items .... just check the stocks figures and import figures of wheat, sugar, pluses all are either in excess or almost equivalent to the requirements, For example

In Sindh Food department deliberately adopted the go slow policy for the purchase of wheat from the growers, this years growers were bearing around PKR +1390 as all inclusive expenses including cut to food department officials for per 40 KG wheat in some case this expenses were as high as PKR +1,396 per 40 KG against the Government announced PKR 1,400 KG but as Food Department was not purchasing the wheat as per officially assigned target therefore wheat growers went to private traders who purchased the current crops of wheat in more or less the same price, but large portion of this purchase by private dealers went to hoarders for stocking, while Food Department not only deliberately purchased less wheat this year but was reluctant to supply wheat to Flour Mills and to Open Market as per the requirements especially in Karachi which is the biggest consumption market of wheat in Sindh and Pakistan in terms of a city hence successfully created an artificial shortage of wheat in the province.

This thing resulted the increase pressure on the Wheat crops of Punjab as wheat crop of Punjab and Sindh combine fulfill the demand of not only of Pakistan but of Afghanistan as well which is roughly around 2.1-2.2 million tonnes per month now artificial shortage of wheat in Sindh started a trigger effect in Punjab as well.

Keep in mind Demand of wheat is ~2.1-2.2 million tonnes per month but this years alone the wheat production is 26 million tonnes while stock of previous years was also available, but due to a systematic intervention by politically motivated and backed circles in Sindh created this whole mess. You can google everything I write here but for this you must start reading news reports about wheat crop and its purchase from the beginning of this year in different news papers published separately from time to time.

Now as far as Sugar is concern recall the Sugar Commission report, Anwar Majeed cases and his involvement with Zardari and Sugar Mills of Sindh and Sugar Business of Sharif Family, both Zardai and Sharif Family are against this government and one should not be surprised the shortage and hike of prices of Sugar and wheat in this country while both of these families are preparing for an anti-government movement, keep in mind Wheat and Sugar are the two commodities which can literally break any Government in Pakistan.

Being a Common Pakistani I have ONLY Two Options either I have to support those who are responsible for the current damage to this country OR I have to support to the one who at least is not responsible for the current damage to this country .... So again it's not about IK but about the only reasonable choice available to me.

And this of course happened all of a sudden? Why country's economic path wasn't course corrected by previous govts? Why did they fix PKR exchange rate to USD, causing record debts and deficits for future govts to deal with? How can this govt alleviate poor people's suffering when almost half of govt revenues are wasted on previous govts debt repayments?

Corrupt financial elites of this country want NRO from Imran Khan by hook or crook. This will be an interesting match after 16 October.

You have rightly defined the philosophy of PTI that Govt job is not to "please" the nation. True Nation should go to hell..... just keep beating the drum that NS chor ha...

Why should uninformed, illiterate people who repeatedly vote for corrupt political elite even bother about such important details? Corrupt political elite has finally found govts weakness in their desperation for NRO. They have pointed fingers at govt and the gullible people are dancing on their tunes as they always do.

Yes, poor nations who lived on govt subsidies for decades should go to hell as they deserve it. This current mess is caused by their own choosing. Nobody forced them to vote for corrupt political elite on gunpoint in the past.

I would been happy if this was achieved by boosting exports but no this has not been the case instead it has been done by unstable exchange rate & increasing interest rate. This resulted in slowing down the economy which resulted in compressing imports. The aggregate demand was taken out. Where is the achievement of IK or for that matter his economic team.

Problem is that all the angles Pakistan had, have gone to Norway and those left here are crooks.
