France-based organisation lpsos, in its survey titled “Consumer Confidence Survey in Pakistan”, released on Sunday claimed that four in five Pakistanis continued to fear that the country was heading in the wrong direction since last year.

It also revealed that three in four Pakistanis expressed dissatisfaction with the way things are going in Pakistan today, while the same proportion of Pakistanis described as bad the current economic situation in the country.

The survey, which the organisation asserted was based on 1,000 samples collected from urban and rural areas of the country from people aged 18-plus years with (male and female 50:50pc) in September this year, said that unemployment was a worrying issue which got amplified by 11 per cent people since last year, followed by increasing inflation and poverty.

The survey report, while clubbing various stated responses by theme stated that 75pc of the most worrying issues related to economic despair of the masses. It also stated that significant increase in inflation and poverty are at the top since August last year.

While high cost of living is the most important worrying issue across all provinces, followed by unemployment and increasing poverty, corruption was among top five worries in Punjab and in KP and power loadshedding was prominent only in Sindh. The survey also revealed that only one in 20 Pakistanis rated the current local economy as strong.

“Looking ahead six months from now, 4 in 5 Pakistanis foresee the economy getting deteriorated,” the survey said, adding that two in five Pakistanis considered their personal financial situation as weak while over 50pc Pakistanis expected this to be even weaker in the next six months.

The survey also revealed that four in five Pakistanis continued to feel less confident about their job security since August 2018.

“One out of two Pakistanis reported experiencing themselves or witnessing people known to them personally, who lost their jobs in last year. This proportion was 31 per cent from Aug 2018 to Aug 2019,” it said, adding that one out of 10 Pakistanis feared they would lose their jobs in the next six months.

“In comparison to one year ago, 9 out of 10 Pakistanis are feeling less comfortable while purchasing general household items as well as major ones like cars, homes etc,” the survey said and claimed that in comparison one year ago, more than 8 out of 10 people were feeling less confident about their ability to save and invest in the future.

The survey claimed that Global Consumer Confidence Index for Pakistan stood at 28.9 in September 2020 against global average of 41.8.

Most Pakistanis fear country headed in wrong direction: survey

IK seems to be really popular on this forum but as per the editorial I don't think he is on the streets. What are his chances to get re-elected again cause that of Modi in 2024 are quite high.

Isn't Consumer Survey linked to the economy and the economy to politics/day to day life of people? Don't you think the below will have any impact when people vote the next time?

Three in four Pakistanis expressed dissatisfaction with the way things are going in Pakistan today
Three in four Pakistanis described as bad the current economic situation in the country
Significant increase in inflation and poverty are at the top since August last year
Looking ahead six months from now, 4 in 5 Pakistanis foresee the economy getting deteriorated

First of all don't take privilege to quote me again ....

Secondly Survey in middle of Pandemic is bound to show negative result ... other then this there is no detail report about the survey like what was the questionnaire, what method was used what was basic of selection of respondent ...etc. etc ....

I have done these sort of gimmicks myself enough therefore know the tricks of playing with Survey Survey and Figure Figures game ....

Again NO NEED TO REPLY .... CONSIDER IT MY FINAL RESPONSE TO YOU ....

Odd, the reality on the ground is the opposite, and people hope all factors get better and safer. The researchers should correlate this date with that of the whole world. This is stupidity; there is economic crisis everywhere. The pandemic has curtailed developed nations; India Pakistan doesn't aren't exceptions.220,000 million people's view is determined from a 1000 people.
France based survey company is not trustworthy because France is an anti-Muslim country. Unknown French organization interviews 1000 PMLn and PPP people.99.9% of Pakistanis think otherwise.paymaster decides what result they want. A survey is also done when the opposition is trying to destabilize the government, very suspicious indeed.
Is India in the right direction under Modi Gov? Indian became “Pakistani” in the eyes of Modi's government

The PTI recently started its 3rd year in power, and most of these surveys in the midst of a pandemic and its associated fallout will reflect a degree of dissatisfaction, especially given the negative economic impact of the pandemic.

Gallup Pakistan does a better job in terms of consistent polling, analyzing trends and research. When you look at a series of polling they have done recently, the PTI, despite all the recent challenges, looks set to return to power as long as the trajectory of the economy improves towards the end of their five year term and inflation is brought under control relatively quickly.

Gallup's August 2020 report has mixed results tied to governance by the PTI. For the most part, there isn't much clarity, except on the PTI's handling of COVID & terrorism, where it has strong majority approval. A lot can happen in the next 3 years, so probably not a good idea to be making predictions at this point.

Performance of PTI Government last year: Highest satisfaction with elimination of terrorism and general running of government, highest criticism on handling inflation Gallup Pakistan used a set of indicators to ask the surveyed population whether they were satisfied or dissatisfied with the performance of the federal government on these parameters. The results showed that the highest satisfaction was found on parameter ‘Elimination of Terrorism’ Powered by Gallup CONTENTS 5 | P a g e which was cited by 57% as a key achievement of the PTI govt, followed by general running of government. Interesting to see that for 50% respondents, PTI government managed the economy well despite the difficult COVID-19 situation. The poorest rate card was given to PTI government on the issue of inflation which has increased at over 10% rate for many months and only recently come down to around 8%.

Handling of the COVID-19 pandemic by the Federal Government: 73% Pakistanis give positive approval to the Federal Government 73% Pakistanis either strongly or simply agree that the Federal government led by Imran Khan has done well on the COVID-19 front. Provincial Government’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic: KP tops with 68% of its citizens saying they are satisfied with KP government’s response The second position was taken by Punjab government as 58% of respondents from Punjab said they were satisfied with Punjab government’s performance. Sindh and Balochistan governments were given popular approval on this issue by less than majority (42% and 40%) each.

Gallup Pakistan Political Weather Report, September 2020
Significant Majority in Pakistan want Nawaz Sharif to return to Pakistan and face courts : Gallup Pakistan Political Weather Report
47% agree with Nawaz Sharif claim that Imran Khan has destroyed the economy and 41% disagree. Minority agree with general stance taken by Nawaz Sharif at the recent APC however majority agree that Army should stay away with politics, though even this opinion is contested by a large 40% of respondents to this national statistical survey
(Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi) :
Gallup Pakistan has released a report ‘ Gallup Pakistan Political Weather Report – September 2020 Edition. The report was compiled by asking over 1500 men and women from around 100 districts in Pakistan covering both urban and rural areas. The sample was selected through representative and statistically valid procedure used across the world including in the United States and other western countries. Gallup Pakistan has been doing regular polls for over 4 decades in Pakistan and has interviewed around 4 million Pakistanis in past 40 years.
The report’s salient findings are as follows :
1/ 1 in 5 Adults claim to have heard Nawaz Sharif speech to the recently held APC
Nawaz Sharif speech in the recently held All Parties Conference was heard by around 1 in 5 adult Pakistanis. This adds up to around 20 million men and women above the age of 18.
2/ With a small margin among those who heard the speech, more people disagree with the overall stance taken by NS during his speech to APC
Among those who heard the speech , 33% agreed with the general point of view taken by Nawaz Sharif, a larger 39% said they disagreed and 24% said they neither agreed or disagreed. It appears, public opinion is split on the issue with only 1 in 3 siding with Nawaz Sharif hard stance during the speech.
3/ Majority agree with NS on claims that IK destroyed economy in past 2 years
Despite not agreeing with Nawaz Sharif overall stand at the APC meeting , majority 47% agree with Nawaz Sharif claim that Imran Khan has destroyed the economy. Here again however, public opinion was split with 41% disagreeing with this claim and another 12% choosing to sit on the fence with respect to this debate.
It is interesting to see that PTI retains its edge among youngsters who were less likely to agree that Imran Khan has destroyed economy.
4/ An overwhelming majority in Pakistan want Nawaz Sharif to return and face courts
A sweeping 78% respondents want Nawaz Sharif to return back to Pakistan and face the justice system. Only 15% agreed that he should stay out of Pakistan.

The year PM Imran Khan said to his people, "Aap nay gabraana nahi hai", country was hit by the largest pandemic in it's history.

This is when a year earlier PM Imran Khan celebrated "mediation", then allowed Indian Occupied Kashmir to be annexed for the first time in the country's history.

I wish the bloody Shaikh Chilli would just keep his gob shut.

My opinion may differ from most of my brothers here ,who are in an overwhelming majority here. Finding excuses and blaming the pitch, the ground , the spectators and the umpire all the time is a hallmark of a weak player. Past Govts, Covid ,bad team and bad media etc will not help forever, for fear of hurting any feelings i will not add more.

3/4 means 75% of Pakistanis dissatisfied with Gov? It makes no sense, either survey was manipulated or the people they asked were all Keema wala naan and khoota eaters.

Although I am an outsider and do not have first hand knowledge of things on the ground but just my observation I believe performance of IK government is just marginally better than that of previous governments but he has promised the moon so a certain section is disappointed who expected a lot too soon.

Also although off topic I have observed that there hasn't been an terrorist attack on civilians both in India and Pakistan in say around last 5 years probably govt of India and Pakistan have reached some kind of tactical understanding there.
