China is not the savior of Vietnam economy. she is not.

Look, China is the second biggest economy in the world and invests billions overseas. She has 4tn forex. But until recently, Chinese investments in Vietnam was virtually non-existent. Despite some Chinese money was poured to Vietnam recently, the total amount may account for 1 or 2 per cent of all total foreign investments.

sure, China is the biggest trading partner of Vietnam. why not? China is the most populated country on earth. but the trade volumes could double if China does not impose hidden trading practices.

That speaks volume for a hostile politics of China.

I do underestimated this time. Now, not only the Chinese factories, but Japanese, Korean, Singaporean, all of them are destroyed, and the imagine of Vietnam also has been destroyed. If the situation cannot be taken care, the consequence will out of control.

the situation is under control. no further riots are reported. the police has a massive presence in the provinces, supported by the armed forces. So far no Chinese factory was affected. Not all, but 15 (Taiwanese) factories were damaged by the rioters. Some Chinese nationals were reported among the deaths. That is very sad.

sure, the image of Vietnam takes a hit, mostly in Taiwan. the economics suffers, and hopefully recovers soon. Investors think of the long term. Vietnam is one of the safest countries in the world. the crime rate is among the world´s lowest. Nothing will change despite the recent riot.
