How old is he? Any proof of his retirement announcement before the last 72 hours - if it was pre determined as you say before the conflict then there must be some proof to show his retirement date. We know our current chief retirement is after 1 year and so on for chief justice etc. Where is the proof for his?
Anyway forced retirement happen in US forces too if someone needs to be let go but thats less severe than court martial; so nothing is set in stone.
