Pakistan is purchasing these with out the AIP because we intend to install a 3rd party AIP ( most probably a western one). We could have gone for the type 214 , but its would have been extremely costly. We would have only managed to buy a max of 2-3.s20 remains a potent platform. Not expected from the PDF think tank and analyst. P8i is not meant to roam around pakistan airspace and inside pakistani sea border till all the ariel and SAM threat are neutralized by IN naval aviation and IAF. By the way P8i is the surveillance and petrol aircraft and would surely have the air cover of MIG 29K, naval Su 30mki, Sea Harrier, Naval Jaguar. Do you know it can also have an offensive weapon on its pylon, like anti-sub torpedo and don't see why BVRAAM could not loaded on it for safety.
