Rao is a title . Anybody can use it. We have Narsimha Rao as our PM. He was not Maratha or Rajput or anyother Kashtriya. He was a Kamma from Andhra.

There are Singhs found across the length and breadth of the Country. Even Mulayam's name is Mulayam Singh Yadav

Singh was used by Sikhs and kshatriya hindus only in medievsl times.

Just because a gawala yadav adopted to increase his social prestigr does not make him a Singh. Gawala yadavs are considered as obc in UP. But in Maharashtra gawalas or gavalis are considered as SCs.

Again there are Maratha yadavs who ruled deogir who have nothing in common with the bhaiyya ones from UP and Bihar.
