IAF is already working to deploy its front line primary air superiority fighter Sukhoi Su-30MKI in North Easter forward bases close to Indo-china border ,but also has made plans to deploy MMRCA aircrafts in the same sector which along with MKI will act has deterrence against Chinese air intrusions .

Sources close to idrw.org have also reported that IAF wants a long legged aircraft (More Range), Due to scarcity of airbase located in North eastern sector and also due to thousand of miles of Mountainous areas, aircraft will not only require to carry lot of internal fuel but also heavy air to air weapons combo , IAF currently unwilling to operate large tanker aircrafts from north eastern sector initially due to smaller airbases which might create logistical problems for the tankers .

If Sources are to be believed almost half the MMRCA (126 no) aircrafts will operate from forward North eastern and eastern sector .currently Mig-21 and Mig-27 aircrafts operate from North eastern sector , IAF also plans to operate LCA-Tejas in Western sector along with other remaining MMRCA aircrafts .

As per Idrw.org MMRCA aircraft which IAF want might be a twin engine aircraft since range requirement will a crucial factor which will determine the aircraft to be chosen along with other requirements

Question:

require to carry lot of internal fuel
heavy air to air weapons combo
twin engine aircraft

Now answer which one fits the description most.?

. . . .
Why not buy f-16 to chinese border it is proven fighter with a record of 64-0

What is the challenge in making better airstrips ( I know terrain, geography, height etc etc ) if we need it we must make it.

Every thing can be compromised for security.

.
Good. The more aircraft India put in eastern front the more defence aid coming toward PK and BD from China.. Good for the whole sub continent...

A friendly piece of advice to the Chinese....

"If u want AP attack India before 2014-2015"....

After that it is simply not possible.

Lets sign the contracts of these aircraft first and then we can make these announcements. Personally, I am tired of reading MRCA related news. It a never-ending build up. Hope the chosen plane lives upto it. Sabr ka fal meetha!

This is a bit confusing...Are we not deploying Su-30 along eastern border...Anyways MRCA deserve to be along eastern border only...no need to keep them on other side...

On a sidenote where will we accommodate PAK-FA which will start arriving from 2016-2017...

rightly pointed out..the problem remains the scarcity of bases in the north east...if MRCA is deployed there ,then IMO it has to be both MKI and MRCA.

since the MRCA deal is almost complete...we should work on the bases on the mountanous region.

We don't actually want Anuchal Pradesh, the Chinese leaders are keeping that claim open just as a political bargaining chip.

Look at how well the Indian economy is doing, look at how well the Chinese economy is doing... do you honestly think they want to fight each other now? Why would either country "rock the boat" when both our economies are doing so well?

I don't blame India for being prepared on the NE though, nothing wrong with being prepared.

In a few years India will reach parity with China in Economic/Military strength... and we won't need to worry about war between us after that. There will be peace in Asia.

I 100 % agree with you...India and China are mature enough to not risk it....but then if your point is to be belived then what is it with Tawang then ?
