I think this thread is mixing the misleading report on a Light Sniper Rifle (7.62x51mm NATO) with the Heavy Sniper Rifle (12.7 or 0.50 cal) platforms! Pakistan Army is currently using the RPA International (UK) Heavy Sniper Rifle that was inducted around 3 years back!

It is rifles---in milltary terms---the ,guns. are the big ones---the ones with big tubes that launch a shell----the rifles are what the soldiers shoot with---unless it is a shot gun---or a hand gun.

for its designed purpose it is a long range hard target interdiction rifle

I do not consider 50 calibre rifles as "true" sniper rifles, they are much too large and heavy to be carried easily and effectively while a sniper team operates.

mmm...50 cals are more like anti-material rifles. Damn heavy, but powerful. Can even penetrate bullet-proof glass

Possibly yes, depends the type of ammo used.

If you want range then the Gun Makers that claim to have the greatest range are Makers of CheyTec Intervention. The Gun used in the movie Shooter.

It fires the .408 Cheytac wildcat ammo

You can't assign every soldier with 50 Cal rifle only specialist snipers. The "sniper" which is in a unit is a called Designated Marksman. Is it not practical to give him a big gun. I assuming this Turkish rifle is being inducted in this role.

Turkish Bordo Berets are also using this sniper rifle.
