There was no deal. Saddam's pilots simply had no where to hide since the whole world had turned against them so they used to run away with their planes to the only independent neigbor they had. Saudis at the time had teemed up with US and NATO. So Iraqis had no choice but run to their former enemies. Iran was under no obligation to return the planes with which Saddam used to drop chemical weapons on Iranians. At any rate they had been bought by Saudi funds which Al-Saud had paid Saddam to fight Iran. So they were not Iraqi planes either. They belonged to Saudis and Iran got them for free. And the value of those planes do not even count for even one percent of compensation of the Saddam's invasion of Iran which stands at over one trillion dollars. But do not worry, some day Iranians will recover that amount from you and the Americans the real perpetrators of that war, all with interest and late fines. Just wait.

The compensation is Iraq-Iran war where Iraq started war and killed thousands of soldiers. No saddam did not send it to Iran they all defected and rightly defected.

come on the pilots just defected to Iran with their plans ,there was no deal otherwise Saddam have sent the rest of its plans to Iran to save them from destruction or he could just sent them to Syria after all he had better relation to them compared to Iran .
