Look, as much as I disagree with IK, he HAS said that he would support a military offensive if it came down to it. He supports peace talks, but now that the talks are dead and the government has gotten the excuse that it was looking for, even IK will fully support the coming offensive.

Decisive consultation underway amid fresh TTP talks offer: Nisar - DAWN.COM

TTP recently has threatened Kalash with genocide because they make wine and are polytheists.

Bastards have gone too far.

Good for IK and his political career. At least he is not acting as stupidly as Munwwar Hassan. Boy I wish if this guy (MH) is blown up in a suicide attack, perhaps (and I can still be wrong) then he would realize whom he has been supporting all along.

The head of JI (IPunjab) Dr. Waseem Akhtar condemned (not strongly though, typical of JI hypocrites) the killing of FC jawans but this MW, still not words from him.

As expected.

You guys are good at conspiring new theories.

do you recall the news not once but twice where TTP personnel were found to be hosted by Afghan intelligence? of course you will demand a link wont you? let me tease you a bit more before I give you that. recall how Americans got hold of Hakim Ullah's whereabouts? from a courier who was a guest of Afghan intelligence?

my dear you are a smart one. I dont mean to second guess your memory but it seems you are suffering from some memory loss. to date all our operations in the tribal areas were never supported or backed up from the other side. except rhetoric prove me more than 1 or 2 cases if any where NATO and ISAAF forces picked off the retreating terrorists coming into Afghanistan

Karzai objected to our posts, objected to our barb wires objected to our mining of borders and so forth. if you have conveniently missed all such stories then please feel free to call everything conspiracy theories.

its a 2 way process. then only our operation will succeed. do tell .. have you seen any indication or "links" which suggest that NATO/ ISAAF or Afghan army itself has offered to move its troops to the border to support our operation? or has done that in the past?

Karzai who is always very quick to blame us for not stopping the infiltration starts yapping when we put control on the movement of the tribesmen saying that we Pakistanis were oppressing the people who had centuries old relationship across the borders and to them these borders meant nothing. can you be his self appointed spokesman and explain how the fck does he think we can address the infiltration if he doesnt offer any support form his side, doesnt want us to control the border, doesnt want us to setup checkposts and mine and barbwire the border?

The TTP will hopefully lose everything with the upcoming offensive, but only time will tell.

@irfan Baloch: A well crafted post, I give you that. However, Karzai aside, don't you agree with me that primarily it is our fault? He can say whatever he wants, but why we did not go ahead with barbing or mining the border? Why are we not taking a firm stand on the Durand's line? What Afghanistan can do if we mine the border? launch an offensive against us? And if so, cant we repel them? This Durand's line is a headache for Pakistan and we have to declare it an international border, irrespective of what Afghanistan says, and what is the opinion of the local pashtoons living on both the sides of the border. If they are living in Pakistan, they have to accept Pakistan's constitution and abide by the laws. They care more about their 'rishtey daar' in Afghanistan, leave Pakistan, and stay with them in Afghanistan. Enough of this bullshit.

No operation or anything will improve the situation until we stop the influx of these creatures from Afghanistan. They have destroyed their country, now they want to do the same in Pakistan (actually almost done in past 30 years). Almost all of the major cities (Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta) are surrounded with Afghan settlements. All sorts of criminals call those settlements home, and they are a constant threat to Pakistan's security. I seldom see our members discussing this very important issue here on the forum.

I believe that I can answer that. The problem isn't Karzai or the ANA, it's the NATO and US forces in Afghanistan. The reason why Pakistan has backed off from previous attempts to set up a clear line, the Afghans had started to attack Pakistani positions. Now normally, this wouldn't be that big of a deal, but the Afghans are doing it on purpose. They WANT to start a war with Pakistan, so that they can get NATO and US forces involved against Pakistan. Until NATO and the US leave Afghanistan, Pakistan won't be able to enforce the border. The last time Pakistan enforced the border, an idiot Afghan policeman got himself killed trying to violate it, and of course Pakistan ended up looking like the bad guy.

All Pakistan can do is wait and watch.

OK, what about making attempts to solve this problem before NATO/ISAF? It is whole 65 years we are dealing with this cursed Durand's line. Successive governments in Pakistan did not develop courage to address this issue once for all. It is not because of Afghanistan, it is because of our screwed up concept of Islamic brotherhood, and strategic depth. Those morons could never foresee that leaving this issue unresolved will one day bite us hard in the ***. Why cant we take this issue to UNSC?

See, that's where you're wrong, Pakistan HAS tried to enforce the border before this entire mess, but ever since the Soviet-Afghan war, the entire situation has been a mess. Since the insurgency exists on both sides of the border, it's hard to enforce the borderline without the Afghan gov's support. Unless Pakistan takes control of both sides of the border, it can't completely secure the border region.
The internationally recognized border is the Durand line, and the only nation in the world that doesn't recognize it is the Afghan government, hell, even the Afghan Taliban regime didn't recognize it. So there is no point in going to the UNSC, because the answer is already clear, international law is already clear.

I politely disagree with your notion that GoP tried to enforce the border. Yes, successive Afghan governments have never accepted Durand's line but Afghanistan was never strong enough to wage a war on Pakistan had Pakistan had ENFORCED the border on Durand's line. There have been proposals and offers to talk from GoP, agreed, but never an enforcement. Pastoons living in NWFP/FATA have always disproved (based on cross-border rishtey daris) any such suggestions made by the GoP. These areas have always been lawless, and war and drugs is what they make their living on. NWFP government never voted for Pakistan, the two brothers (Dr. Khan Saheb and Bacha Khan) always supported India/Afghanistan and never Pakistan. Bacha, when died, wanted himself to be buried in Afghanistan, such was his hatred towards Pakistan. Somebody asks his supporters, why he did not migrate to Afghanistan, if he loved it so much. Why should he, they live in Pakistan, earn in Pakistan, get everything in Pakistan, and die in and for Afghanistan. Such are the hypocrites these people.

If according to you, Durand's line matter is so straight forward, and there is no need to go to UNSC, than how come Pakistan cant enforce border, and why on earth NATO/ISAF would support Afghan forces to wage war on Pakistan? It is like Mexico wages war on USA for enforcing border.

Durand's line, and no enforcement of border on the Durand's line is the CORE ISSUE and we seem to have ignored it for the most part. There WILL not be peace in Pakistan until Afghans are escorted back to their country and internationally recognized norms are enforced on Pakistan/Afghanistan border on peoples crossing the border.

We had one condition for NATO

  • Kill them when we drive them out and they try to escape to Afghanistan.

    They refused.

As I said before, nothing has changed even now.. NATO if anything is even less capable of doing what you have been asking them to do

The operations in NWA is long overdue. This should be decisive to wipe the TTP out once and for all. Time is right for wiping out the terrorist mullahs.

How will Pak army conduct an operation with least amount of collateral damage and without creating more enemies?

I think PA needs more of a decisive and transparent plan to deal with these rats

@Farooq

How many terrorists have been killed so far? Why not evacuate all the civilian population and then bomb all their strongholds?
How big is the support for Taliban among locals of Northern Waziristan?

What are the realistic solutions?

That's what I would expect to happen, but it hasn't happened yet. Perhaps, PA needs a Swat type operation in NW.

the main supporters of these animals are JUI, JI and JUI-S

furthermore, I wouldn't be surprised if the self-mutilating shia Iranins are involved .... it is confirmed they are involved in supporting Baluchistan Liberation Army (BRA)
