There aren't any checkposts if you know your way around the place. Especially if you escape to the Islamabad side, because the other side is full of Army presence (the serious kind).

You cant get out once u are in. The area will be cordoned off and SSG might be called in. The only way out is to take hostages or sieze an high value equipment and negotiate for release.

Mayhem averted, 18 terrorists in a confined space could have caused a lot of harm, probably would have taken a lot of hostages both foreign and local and would have caused an iinternational incident. The cops were successful in averting a major incident and both live to fight another day.

Correct, they wouldn't dare, coming to garrison side, because of heavy army deployment. My personal guess they took the road to islamabad expressway and a signal down the road, take right and you all in the outskirts of the city.....police would still be looking for them on expressway

This is seriously something to worry about,I can't believe this that they can slap on our security like this,they entered...they left untouched

The cops would have realised it later...the militants were dressed as cops - one wouldnt expect cops to sshoot at cops in a public place and without knowing whether they were cops or not to begin with. A major incident was averted but the failure happened in follow up action when they dissolved into the city. They seem to have considerable local support where they dissappeared with their vehicles and that should be a cause of worry for you.
