Yet another year and my city remains at the top, Along with Perth and Adelaide Australian cities continue to be some of the best places for people to live in prosperity.. No surprises there

Also happy to see Colombo among the most improved cities, Post war Colombo is beginning to the start to claim it's rightful place.. Long way to go though after 30 years of neglect of inner city infrastructure, Especially horrid transportation issues

And Tehran, A place on the top of my bucket list

Colombo among biggest improvers during five years: Global Liveability Report

LBO
Aug 16, 2017 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s main commercial city Colombo is among the five biggest improvers during the last five years in terms of liveability, recently released Global Liveability Report 2017 showed.

According to the report by The Economist Intelligence Unit, Colombo has showed relative improvement during this period, especially after the end of a separatist war.

Nevertheless, out of 140 cities, Colombo is ranked at 124th with an overall rating of 51 out of 100 points.

The report says that cities moving up the ranking are located largely in countries that have enjoyed periods of relative stability after previously reported falls in liveability.

These include Kiev in Ukraine, Tripoli in Libya and Colombo in Sri Lanka.

“Unfortunately, the improvements have been marginal and have not seen liveability recover from previous levels or resulted in large shifts up the ranking.” the report said.

For the seventh consecutive year, Melbourne in Australia is the most liveable urban centre of the 140 cities surveyed, closely followed by the Austrian capital, Vienna.

In fact, only 0.1 percentage points separate the top two cities, and just 0.2 and 0.3 percentage points separate Canada’s Vancouver and Toronto (ranked 3rd and 4th, respectively), from Melbourne.

Another Canadian city, Calgary, shares joint fifth place with Adelaide in Australia.

Although the top five cities remain unchanged, the report highlights that the past few years have seen increasing instability across the world, causing volatility in the scores of many cities.

But you are not the world, neither are the UN. No one takes your data seriously. Sorry dude. Better luck next time.

Lahore airport is no.10 even in S.Asia. Lahore train transport is lower than even 30h ranked indian railway junction like Mathura. Lahore GDP is 35 billion USD nominal as compared to 165 billion USD of Mumbai.

Sorry not even a top 10 city in S.Asia. Even Dhaka and Colombo are ahead.

Having large population means sheta if most are unemployed or madrassa educated

.
Actually nowhere India is mentioned.Tried lots of different sources Indian & non Indian. Also full report is not available on their website.

When you click on the link for the report, you are re directed to times of India, Looks like another In house creation by desperate Times of India

Melbourne might be the most liveable city....so long as you can stay awake.... it is also one of the most boring.

Yeah the host city for Grand Slam Tennis, F1, One of the most iconic grounds in the world the MCG, Gourmet capitol of the world outside London and New York, Some of the best comedy club scenes in the world, One of the biggest entertainment and gaming complexes in the world at the Crown casino.. Adding to many other things art festivals, Carnivals, Concerts, Regatta's .. Yeah it's a boring place

.
Melbourne is definitely not boring but the weather is truly awful.
Parking is also a headache, I have had 2 fines in the last week alone.

. . .
Not boring as in lack of entertainment.

Boring as in nothing real ever happens there. Passionless, sanitized, removed from the mainstream of the human experience. Boooooriing!

Apart from the pace of life, I can't say that I find anything else the two cities have in common. Colombo>Kathmandu any day for me, though.

As for my own city, I hope to see it score better after major metro railway and road infrastructure projects are completed in the next 5-7 years.
