I'm sure once the Trump Government has finished formulating their Afghan policy, military take over in Pakistan will fit in that strategy. We should find out soon.

As per the Pakistani tradition, military takeovers do occur every 10 ten years which end up serving American interests.

you're right about declining influence; unfortunately for you, all it takes is a few more bucks tossed at Islamabad and Pindi and the next thing you know, Pak establishment starts panting in gratitude.

of course you indians are history teachers here and we Pakistani's are your students. well modi ji just went to washington and then israel i suppose he didn't wagg no tail against Pakistan. that is not considered shameful in india but worn as a badge of pride.

WASHINGTON: US Senator John McCain’s warning that if Pakistan does not stop supporting the Haqqani network, the United States should change its ‘behaviour’ towards the Pakistani nation reflects the changing mood in Washington towards a country once considered a close ally.

Senator McCain, who was in Islamabad recently before flying over to Kabul, said he had conveyed this message to Pakistan’s civilian and military leaders as well.

“We have made it very clear that we expect they [Pakistan] will cooperate with us, particularly against the Haqqani network and against terrorist organisations,” he said at a news briefing on Tuesday in Kabul.

“If they don’t change their behaviour, maybe we should change our behaviour towards Pakistan as a nation.”

what changing mood? America has been threatening Pakistan since the invasion of Afghanistan
they have had Northern Alliance thugs as their allies. disregarded Afghan Pashton population on the advice of racist Northern Punjsheris , turned the blind eye towards the drug trade and the persecution of Pashtons by the NA thugs and let the Afghan Taliban virtually control Afghanistan beyond Kabul boundaries and then blamed Pakistan for it.

Problem with the Muslim governments and even their citizens as shown in this very thread and forum, is that they follow the lead of the west in judging other organizations, groups and geo-political conflicts. After all why should PAK, turkey, Indoneshia, Malaysia, KSA etc follow US designation of who is a terrorist and who is NOT? What constitutes terrorism? How come YPG, Shia militias in ME, BLA in balochistan are NOT terrorist? Why should PAK full fill US expectations? Why was hafiz saeed , a PAK national put house arrest based on Indo-US demands? Who is US to expect anything from an independent country? Why are PAK commoners, political groups blaming and pointing fingers at each other without even introspecting what's the morally correct stance to take on this issue? It takes self respect to do that something that very few muslims in today's world have.
