After so much wooeing Pakistan civil and military failed to satisfy USA and it's Allies in Afghanistan.

It's look like India and Afghanistan now have upper hand in this conflict another defeat on both diplomatic and military front.

No india does not have upper hand and never will; india does not have any land connection and not an immediate neighbor. US is just there to leverage indian terror operating capability. McCain does not set US foreign policy direction and has diminishing influence in Senate and other places.

That being said, US position in Afghanistan is on loosing end and hardly has any card other than more troops or spending billions BUT only to prolong the inevitable defeat. US knows it, desperate and using typical taunt with Pakistan. Pakistani establishment knows future of Afghanistan will be determined by dominant force on ground Talibans and regional powers namely Pakistan, China, Russia and Iran.

So, anyone who fallen for US taunt or indian gimmick show in Washington, is just deceived.

While the U.S. attitude is that the U.S. and Pakistan can work together to eliminate terrorism and make the world a better place, all these comments represent a Pakistan that's determined to craft illusions and promote misrepresentations to chart its own course to actively oppose its long-time American ally. Congress sees itself as spending America's money to subsidize this mind-numbing ragout. So these posts make it an even greater temptation for Congress to turn off the dollar tap and spoil the party.

Just like bleeding soviets in Afghanistan was a task pakistan did for dollars and weapons, they have done the same with Americans on Chinas behest.

The cost in terms of an unsafe unstable afghanistan with inevitable blowback in pakistan is something the pakistanis consider a fair price to pay. Also their assessment seems to believe the americans are a fading power like the soviets so the cost of enmity with America will be less than the benefits from China.

Even if all their thinking and assumptions above turn out to be accurate, I do not see this benefitting the common Pakistani.

WASHINGTON: US Senator John McCain’s warning that if Pakistan does not stop supporting the Haqqani network, the United States should change its ‘behaviour’ towards the Pakistani nation reflects the changing mood in Washington towards a country once considered a close ally.

Senator McCain, who was in Islamabad recently before flying over to Kabul, said he had conveyed this message to Pakistan’s civilian and military leaders as well.

“We have made it very clear that we expect they [Pakistan] will cooperate with us, particularly against the Haqqani network and against terrorist organisations,” he said at a news briefing on Tuesday in Kabul.

“If they don’t change their behaviour, maybe we should change our behaviour towards Pakistan as a nation.”

Please come and try. Been hearing the same rhetoric since October 2001. Yawn.........Yawn............

Pakistan sud do whats best for Pakistan they are doing whats best for them they have let india open their 13 consulates let TTP have safe havens in Afg. not posting enough men on border, Pakistan is doing what it can best.

We have huge foreign policy lapse. Again military and democratic govt need to sit togather and take some tough decisions for the future.

For Pakistan to actually stand up to US we first need to have a strong civilian leadership in Pakistan and not this joke of a lion that we now have who is corrupt to the core, has accumulated all his wealth abroad and in fact takes assurances from these same countries. It is for this very reason US continues to dictate terms to us while we continue to listen.
If we ever wish to stand up to US we will have to lose the likes of Nawaz & CO. Otherwise this master slave relationship will continuE

Sorry PAL you miss the show. Now Pakistan don't need US and US must accept this truth and start focusing to build one.This is not 70's to 2010's Pakistan and US should realize it now. With China and Russia on Pakistan back, it will be horror show for US and US must make friendly relation with Pakistan or else it will lose Asia and Middle east particularly forever. Pakistan is the key for open doors for Central Asia and ME, accept it or lost it forever.

Pakistan has a very corrupt military. The US can prop up a loyal and obedient military dictator as and when one is required with a few dollars and ofcourse... the F-16s.

Pakistani Generals will create as many civil wars in the country as necessary as long as they keep receiving chanda, I mean military and economic aid from the US. It's been tried, tested and proven at least 3 times so far.

it's been 10 years since the last military-rule ended in Pakistan and you can tell from the Panama conspiracy the military is itching for another disastrous military takeover.
