If you are talking about companies from Mauritius avoiding capital gains tax by investing in India and the global companies misusing the trade treaty between India and Mauritius, Supreme court of India has put an end to this avenue in 2003 where it clearly stipulated certain restrictions on a company qualified to take advantage of the CGT.

Those two islands are far from mainland even some 1000 kms from mauritius itself closer to african mainland...

But its a good spot to anchor vessels for anti piracy operations.. or say monitor Oman-Iran- India undersea pipeline which may be laid closer to that region .
