What's new

Masjid e Haram,Makkah..new project.

@Leader which is better? keeping some arches or expanding the area so that MORE people can do Hajj properly?

Ease or preservation?

Ease is chosen because it will last....more people visit Mekkah for Hajj now then they used to...while the arches were there....and served their purpose...I know heritage and all that...But when you have to choose....I would choose less people dying from over crowdedness over ancient arches because according to Quran life is MOST SACRED THING!

Some People should really make an effort to visit the real islamic holy places in Makkah and Madinah instead of visiting some useless shrines in iran- iraq and india- to see how much the expansion is necessity of the hour-

The Haram needs to accomodate more people and it does not matter if some turkish irani or whatever irrelevant structures needs to be removed- level flatten them all-

well said talon...we need to work on increasing space and to create an ease for Hajis rather then decoration and luxury as Islam persists on simplicity and comfort!

Here is a video of new construction which is planned and officials are working on it..how this will ease the Haji's take a look here.

Just before Ramadan I found that they are making this structure on TV... I was really confused for what are they doing.. Thanks for the video.. Now I know the reason of the structure and also know that they can be removed as well.

And the Abraj Al Bait ignores luxury and personifies simplicity I suppose. No dont get me wrong, dont have any problems with the expansion as the number of Hajis has probably multiplied several times over the past few decades and the Saudi government is justified there, but I just find that huge 5 star hotel/mall building next to the holy kaaba abhorent. Shame that nobody speaks out against it. A 5 star hotel literally a few walking steps from the kaaba kind of destroys the whole purpose of equality between hajis dont you think?

(http://mestadelsbilder.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/5rv9b.jpg) picture of the kabaa viz a viz this hotel. Dont think I have seen a bigger paradox in my life. The Kaaba personifies simplicity, the tower does not.

As a Makkawi Hashemite myself I was and am against the Abraj Al Bait. If it really was that necessary to build it then they could have built it elsewhere in Makkah or preferably not in Makkah at all.

But at the same time, which many outsiders seem to forget, is that Makkah is a city with a population of 2 million and in the metro area over 3 million. It is not a secluded area.

Anyway the expansions of Al-Masjid Al-Haram and Al-Masjid al-Nabawi are very necessary and I welcome them very much so for that part there will be no criticism.
