হেফাজতের সমাবেশে এক নারী সাংবাদিকের "কথিত" লাঞ্ছিত হবার কথা শোনা গিয়েছিল। যদিও ভিডিওতে দেখেছিলাম কতিপয় ক্লিন শেভড আদমিদের কাছ থেকে তাকে বাচানোর জন্যে এক হুজুরকে এগিয়ে আসতে। যাই হোক, হুজুর নারীদের লাঞ্ছিত করেছে - এই স্লোগান তুলে ফেসবুক থেকে শুরু করে লীগাত্তর টিভি, সর্বত্র সুশীলদের চামড়া পুড়তে দেখেছি। ওমা! সে কি প্রতিবাদ! কতিপয় সুশীলের কভার পিকচার-ও দেখেছিলাম চেঞ্জ হয়েছিল। স্ট্যাটাসের পর স্ট্যাটাস পড়েছিল।
ওফ! কি সব অগ্নিঝরা স্ট্যাটাস। মধু মধু।

আজ সুপ্রীম কোর্টে সোনার ছেলের দল ছাত্রলীগের অমানুষের সন্তানদের দেখলাম মহিলাদের মাটিতে ফেলে উলটে পালটে লাথি মারতে আর লাঠি দিয়ে পেটাতে। তার উপর লাঠির আগায় দেখি জাতীয় পতাকা বাঁধা। যেই জাতীয় পতাকার অবমাননার অভিযোগও আনা হয়েছিল হেফাজতের বিরুদ্ধে। সুশীলদের খোস পাঁচড়া তখনও বেশ পীড়া দিয়েছিল তাদের। ব্যাপক চুলকাতে হয়েছিল।

বলা বাহুল্য, আজ কোন সুশীলদের জনমকে দেখলাম না একটু ম্যাতকার করতে। পাছে হাম্বালীগ বিরিয়ানির অর্ডার বন্ধ করে দেয়। নারী অবমাননা, জাতীয় পতাকার অবমাননা কেবল লীগের দালালরাই করতে পারবে। ওদের জন্যে তা জায়েজ। হুজুরে কিছু করলেই মাগার হৈ হৈ।

তোদের জন্যে এক দলা থুথু।

রাষ্ট্র পরিচালনা করেন বলে এর সব খবরই রেখেছেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা। তবে এই রাজনীতির বাইরেও বিভিন্ন সময়ে মানুষের সামনে হাজির হয়েছেন তিনি। কখনো দেখা গেছে আওয়ামী লীগ সভানেত্রী নিজে রান্না করে পরিবারের সদস্যদের পরিবেশন করছেন।

কখনো অনুষ্ঠানে অন্যদের সঙ্গে গলা ছেড়ে গান গাইছেন শেখ হাসিনা। রবিবার শেষ বিকেলে একেবারেই অন্যভাবে এলেন তিনি। ছেলে জয় এবং নাতিকে নিয়ে তিনি গণভবনে ব্যাডমিন্টন খেলেছেন।

রাজনীতির মাঠে প্রতিপক্ষ স্পষ্টত বিএনপি নেতৃত্বাধীন ১৮-দলীয় জোট। তবে খেলার কোর্টের প্রতিপক্ষ কে তা বোঝা যায়নি। কারণ বাংলাদেশ আওয়ামী লীগের অফিশিয়াল ফেসবুক পেজে রাত সাড়ে ১০টা দিকে পোস্ট করা ছবিতে ব্যাট হাতে দুজন আর এক পিচ্ছিকে দেখা গেছে।

ছবির ক্যাপশন রয়েছে, ‘এই আমাদের প্রধানমন্ত্রী। একজন দেশনায়ক, একজন মা... পরম মমতায় যিনি আগলে রাখেন দেশমাতৃকা এবং তাঁর সন্তানদের। জয় বাংলা।’

এটি আজকের ছবি কিনা নিশ্চিত হওয়া না গেলে সকালে জেএসসি ও জেডিসি পরীক্ষার ফলাফল শিক্ষামন্ত্রী প্রধানমন্ত্রীর হাতে তুলে দিতে গেলে তাকে একই শাড়িতে দেখা গেছে।

That's an understatement bro. Arrests would be in the 1000s. The jails have long surpassed capacity and is crawling with opp. leaders, activist and journalist. Plus some 300 died in this one month alone.

More followup information why army is in shooting mode in Dinajpur area. Command of this section of army falls under Major General Salahuddin Miazi, area commander of Rangpur. Before promoted to Maj gen rank, Salahuddin Miazi was Brig gen and posted as defense secretary to Hasina. That should explains the picture behind picture.

Good question. I don't know exactly, I think no one knows, Indians included. They are as puzzled as anyone it seems, rife with all sorts of speculations. Maybe it is just a minor spat between two potential allies, that will be sorted out eventually. So one should not read too much into one off incidents.

Because it does not change the broader long term geopolitical picture, where the interest of both are aligned.

I have read from your writing that the pivot to asia is halting the US to intervene in Bangladesh against India. But from the recent reports it is showing that the Indians are carrying out their own agenda and the US understands it...could you please explain more @kalu_miah

India has no meaningful way to contribute in "Asia pivot" that is more of the case when China already building web of pipelines (from Russia, Central Asia and from Iran) and diversifying energy sources away from gulf countries. Indian importance for indian ocean role is further minimizing. India does not want nor does have significant economic benefit to provide to US. And india already given enough evidence that it is willing to take cosmetic steps BUT not willing to do US bidding by harming its economic interest. US is looking for concrete action than cosmetic steps.

No intention to derail the thread but thought it would be helpful to see US position in relation to india, in prospective.

As for army, it is not just US nod, army command itself fraught with contradiction and self serving agenda. I was highly doubtful on army from the very beginning. Bottom line is movement against Indo-Awami terror has to enter into next phase. And I will just leave it at that.

I would not be so sure, specially looking at Japan's renewed interest with India.

But regardless of reasons, the US will not push for a coup in this situation, that I agree on. May be it has very little chance to work anyways, because too many AL supporter officers from top to bottom, Indo-Awami's have worked to close this route for decades, BDR mutiny also played a big role in this effort.

The next phase? That is the big question.
