RIP , it was 15 when i checked the news first and now 26 personnel have been killed.

I have little faith in 'doing' anything about it except through a long drawn out, self whittling round of confrontation. Every time the army steps into a civilian issue things get worse. They know this so they want to stay away. What we learn from andhra is probably that if put up with this and keep plowing with police action for a decade and a half, you might start slowly winning.

I am wondering when will GOI say enough is enough????

Well it isnt that easy to curb the naxalite movement.

GOI is trying to calm the things down but it will surely takes some time

But they surely will require some more time.
Because this mess was created after decades of unrest among the tribals
It is hard fact bt we have to believe that

Using force against poor Indian citizens fighting to save their lands and culture will do nothing.

There is no military solution. Stop the mining companies from stealing tribal land and 90% of the issues will be solved instantly. Tribals have as much right to land as do the people in the cities.

I believe the problem can be solved to a large extent if we can change our land laws. I heard that in some countries like Malayasia the land ownership extents to the middle of the earth. Why cant we do that in India.Make natural resources except for sensitive items like uranium under private ownership. If i have iron ore under my house let the mining companies come to me, talk to me and give me a good deal. The Govt should only act as a impartial administrator and nothing more.

I guess the problem runs deeper than that. India's fast growth has unfortunately become a problem too. Income disparity is growing as fast as economic growth and some sections of the society are feeling left behind. The maoist issue has surfaced but I think other issues are also brimming under the surface. North South disparity is increasing and that may lead to friction between North South in future, which are already culturally very different. Similarly minorities, specially Muslims are being left behing and that may lead to trouble in the future. Again there are already many issues related to Muslims. A grand strategy is needed to distribute the fruits of growth to all the sections of the society, otherwise the problem is going to aggravate.

i think this is prob the best idea, multinational companies and corrupt politicans want to make a killing at the expense of the tribals land rights. Imagine if they discovered gold under your house, then the government decided to mine it so that the politicans and companies make the profit and you get kicked out with peanuts, how would you react. just put your self in the tribals shoes.

then you will know how they feel.
