What's new

Many countries express interest in JF-17 Thunder

@Zarvan All information is available on collective JF-17 Threads please go through it I don't think anyone would keep reposting it for members.

Current Engine RD-93 Russian [No immediate need for replacement of RD-93 maybe Block III with WS-13 and upgrade of future Block II upgrades to WS-13 Engines]
Future Engine WS-13 China [WS-13 Engine is under testing in China]
News Engine for JF-17 is required so Pak-China can export JF-17 with it apart from it more power and performance from the Engine and no dependence on Russia which might impose sanctions.
Thanks Sir for the information

The main issue for not exporting is that the export model will be block 2. And the second big reason is that most african nation would prefer WS13 and we need to wait maybe a year or two. Will that hinder JF17? Not really. There are many alternatives but most of them very expensive or with huge strings. NAtions need to cope world crises and can afford to wait a few years.

Like the link(with references) which someone posted before said, MiG-29B costed only 11 million dollars just 14 years back.

And MiG-29SMT costed burma only 28.8 million dollars including training weapons and spares in 2010. Lets take a estimate of 6-9 million for each aircraft for spares and weapons and training. 6-9 million for SMT because Vice Admiral Madanjit Singh, at a press conference on 13 April 2005, pegged the price of each aircraft at $32 million for MiG-29K, while the total cost of MiG-29k including training, spares everything is $46.9 million. That's 14.9 million dollars or almost 15 million dollars for spares and traiing for MiG-29K.

So a MiG-29SMT with 6-9 million dollars of weapons, spares and training would cost only 19-24 million dollars. Compare that with the cost of J*cough* Fighter 17, along with the popular Made In China tag, and you know which aircraft any sane non-corrupt nation would get.

alot depends upon whats inside the aircraft, a better estimate will be to see how much it costs to india. as india has the standarad version
mig29 itself has so many versions with so many differences.

Alone the Engines and Radar costs $7m+ on mig-29 poor link and poor estimates @Su-11 by the way its not mig thread you can open it somewhere else.

Chinese Tech Genie is out of the bottle now. Everything happens at the right time and for a good reason as it turns out the 90's sanctions proved to be a blessings both for us and in a way for China as well.

The real benefits of our alignment and cooperation with China and Russia in the defence sector will be more evident in the next decade and as I have always said some other "acting smart" country always ends up joining the losing side at the wrong time.

Hi,

The upcomimng version of the sd10 has some potent technology--let me just say---some extremely potent technology that has some leading airforces in a tad bit of a 'concern'.

.
JF-17 fighter plane only becomes a viable package if it comes with the Chinese WS engine.

If it uses Russian planes then we are still dependent on others which is wrong.

We need to be self-sufficient.
