Manufacturing Details Stall Franco-Indian MMCRA Negotiations

.
One defense official suggested to AIN that if decisions are deferred beyond the election, the MMRCArequirement might be cut to around 60 aircraft as newer solutions–such as the Indo-Russian fifth-generation fighter aircraft, and unmanned combat air vehicles–become available.

@arp2041
+ guys why are we all taking this news as gospel? This is from IDRW after all! Hardly the NYTs!

Read through their past articles and see how many of their nonsensical predications come to fruition.

And don't forget it will be this FINCAIL year ending March not this CALENDER year ending December. We are still a good 4 months away from the signing IMHO.

And let's not forget that this particular deal has been shadowed by media outlets across the world spelling doom and cancellation but each and every time these naysayers have been proven wrong.

Why set yourself up for a massive fall mate?

It is possible, just not likely. The MMRCA buy was proposed 12 years ago, and not even the contract is signed. After signing the contract, there would be few years to set up new production line as well as personnel training. The potentially Indian made Rafale would probably roll out near 2020 if India encounters any manufacturing problem. If the J-20 keeps progressing as it is, it might just enter service together with the Russian T-50.

So the J-20 will enter service before 2015/6? This is when the Rafale will enter service for sure wih all the infrastructure and training completed. Wrt you remarks on the 12 year time frame of the MMRCA this is factually incorrect. Do some reads arch, the MMRCA in its current firm has only been going on for ~4 years now. Even Wikipedia will tell you this friend.

It has been said time and again but I'll say it again- what the IAF has been able to do in this time frame is nothing short of amazing ie all the different parameters all the different trails etc the IAF has gotten praise from many including the losing contenders for this efficient process. The selection process has even been patented by the IAF and many AFs around the world are eager to get the info from he IAF to hell them wih their selection process. There are only a handful of AFs in the world who could have done such a comprehensive, proffesional and efficient a job as the IAF did.

That MMRCA was the one that included aircraft like MiG-29M2 and Mirage 2000-9.

It was scrapped in 2008 and a fresh tender which listed these aircraft as contenders was presented -

1) Dassault Rafale
2) Eurofighter EF-2000 Typhoon
3) Mikoyan MIG-35 Fulcrum-F
4) SAAB JAS-39 Gripen IN
5) Lockheed F-16IN Super Viper
6) Boeing F/A-18IN Super Hornet

This new tender's evaulation process started only 3 yrs ago.
