I wonder whether there has ever been a point in human history where so many people have the relevant information available at their fingertips, and are yet so deeply invested in consciously spreading lies and disinformation?

Farmers who are struggling to pay up loans had crores of cash in 500 & 1000 rupee notes, which they could not deposit in banks?!

Why can't a farmer submit the notes in banks? Did some one stop them? There is no income tax for farmers, so, this logic of them affected by Demo is so far fetched that it belies belief.

What's happening here is that soon 2000 rupee will be banned and all the fat cats who have again stashed their ill gotten money in 2000 notes will be hit. Hence they are taking farmer as an agenda to show Demo was bad for farmers!!

Still waiting on Some one to tell me why Demo would affect farmers, a group that could any time walk into any bank and deposit their notes....Anyone explain pls.

I have been told here by one esteemed gentleman that the verdict of demonetization was given by the UP voters. So I guess it was indeed a success.

As for lies and disinformation, Modi is running a whatsapp govt. It doesn't matter what he is doing or what his achievements are. It's all about what people think they are.

I can show you responses of many non-secular economists who are saying exactly the opposite of your view.

Point being, even the govt accepted that for couple of quarters there will be issues. Beyond that the greater segmentation of people within tax bracket as well as businesses will help in the long run.

BUT here is the point. No one until today has failed to explain to me how Demo hurt farmers?
Businesses which were dependent on cash & failed to pay tax on the said cash definitely suffered. The supply chain part of business world means those in the chain of that business, mooching on illegal non-tax paying cash suffered as well.

Still, waiting on some logical answer to show how farmers, who don't have to pay a paise of tax suffered?!!

A parting question. Why would Demo hurt anyone, be it individual or business that is legit. If someone is hurt by it, it simply means that person was part of the chain that was involved in illegal business activities or worse illegal activities.

Btw, have you noticed the tapered off Real Estate prices in the last few months? I doubt you are wondering why?

Some third rate parties are provoking farmers just to destabilize BJP government. They think that this is the last resort to survive. Strangely only BJP states have farmers and they are in distress.
More strangely TN farmers went to Delhi to do naked dance on streets and rats.

Yes. This is the ultimate in perverse reasoning. Since in a democracy all that counts are election results.

Of course, that does not apply to the Congress - apparently nothing good came out of it winning elections for 70 years. But when it comes to Modi, winning is proof in itself.

It is astounding how large parts of the world have become an echo-chamber where views from the outside simply do not percolate. One would think that it would be impossible in the internet age for people to live in such a bubble.

India is not the only country going through this crisis. The other day, former FBI chief Comey testified before a Congressional Committee where he literally said that Donald Trump leaned on him to end the investigation into the Russian angle in the US election. This statement was made in full view of the world media. Immediately after, Trump and his cronies went on record to state that Comey's testimony clearly proved that Trump was right in his assertion that he did not influence the investigation.

I just hope that other people are not as tired and worn down by all this as I am and have the will to fight this sort of misinformation.

So, you are saying Farmers didn't have cards, so they suffered?!

Case 1: Farmers couldn't buy seeds or urea to farm BUT this year it was bumper production of crops all over India. So, this theory is wrong.

Case 2: Farmers had loads & loads & loads of cash. Great, all they had to do was go to a bank and convert or deposit. Since they are farmers, they don't get asked questions since they don't have income tax.

So, please use all your brain cells and explain why farmers suffered due to Demo.
