KOLKATA: The BJP, on Friday, upped the ante against the Mamata Banerjee government and accused it of bringing shame to the country by harbouring terror elements and allowing the manufacture of bombs on Indian soil for use in a foreign country.

"Till the explosion in Burdwan accidentally blew the cover off the terror network, India had always maintained a high moral ground that it did not allow terror activity on its soil. But after October 2 and the subsequent unearthing of high-intensity explosives, it has shamed us before the international community. Pakistan can now dare point fingers at India. By sheltering foreign terror elements for electoral gain, Mamata has betrayed not just Bengal but the country," BJP national secretary Siddharth Nath Singh told TOI after a protest meeting against corruption and misrule before the KMC headquarters on Friday afternoon.

The meeting that was to ostensibly kick off BJP's campaign for the civic polls towards the middle of next year, it was chance discovery of terror modules that had taken roots in the Bengal heartland that dominated the rhetoric. "The Centre is determined to investigate and unearth how the terror modules were established and who offered them shelter and security. The NIA and NSG discovered explosives because they went to investigate and search with an intent to find evidence. The CID that visited the same site eight days ago returned empty-handed because they went with the intent to hide and destroy the link between Trinamool Congress and Jihadi elements," Singh alleged.

State BJP president Rahul Sinha wondered why Mamata, who never missed an opportunity to speak on all and sundry had remained silent till Friday evening, communicating only twice through Facebook posts since the blast. "The posts were critical of the Centre and BJP but did not have a word against the blasts or the terror network. Why hasn't Mamata, who is also in charge of the home department, acted against the CID officers who conducted the search and failed to discover the explosives at the Simulia madrassa?" he questioned.

Accusing Trinamool Congress of harbouring jihadis from neighbouring countries, Sinha said BJP welcomed Indian Muslims unlike Trinamool that swelled its ranks with Muslims from across the border. "Not just Trinamool Congress, CPM too sheltered dubious elements for electoral gains," he said, referring to the Rashid Khan blast in the heart of Kolkata.

Sinha also urged Muslims to step forward and distance themselves from jihadi elements and philosophy so that 95% of the community did not have to carry the stigma of terror acts committed by 5%. "There is something that Muslims can learn from Sikhs. They, too, were under threat of being overrun by militant elements, especially after Indira Gandhi's assassination, but the moderates who were in majority put their foot down," he pointed out and warned against Mamata's stage 'theatrics' aimed at wooing the Muslim vote.

Few more such incidents then center will play its own game. Governor rule is the trump card in the hands on center. But it is still time for didi to act. Anyways she is of very reserved mentallity and cannot think beyond her own gain

. .
I think she has no control over her own MLAs, MPs and party workers and is a puppet for them.....!!

. .
Of all the four metro cities in India, three have indirect rule (governor or puppet CM) (Delhi, Mumbai , Chennai), only Kolkatta is left and is marching towards it
