Make peace with Israel

It would have been better phrased just to say that we should be at peace with everyone.

Anyway the question to you was that since you say that Jerusalem should be in muslim hands, and being mindful that jews would want it to be in their hands, how would you surmount that disagreement? In fact, that is the very same feeling that has prevented any peace in that region. Muslims thinking it should be in "muslim hands" and jews thinking it should be in "jewish hands". As long as people in that region don't rise above these religious notions, and think beyond religious identities, there will be no peace there. Sad, but true.

yes I know, but I provided the ans and the context of his reply which is obvious to all.

Yes u r right the positions are zero-sum if we stick to those positions but if the Camp David accords show much is possible, if the road to peace is travelled.

. . . . .
I was one of those people that, though I had (and have) an immense amount of respect and admiration for Jews, I was deeply unhappy with the situation in Palestine.

I have seen and have choked on images of the holocaust and wondered how men could do this to other men.

I read with shame the horrors of the pogroms and the industrial scale of the German attempts of purification.

I understood why the jews wanted a home.

Yet, I was also dismayed and hurt by the Palestinian plight. Where we should have been cousins living side by side, and the Arabs at the time did welcome them home. But the Nakba occurred and one set of people were displaced by another.

Wars started and were lost.

As a Muslim, I wanted and still wants Palestine and Jerusalem back in Muslim hands..

I want this to happen through peaceful negotiations, not war, terrorism or any other violence.

Thus if we really want to achieve something for the Palestinians and not to mouth tired clichés we must make peace with Israel and develop relationships with her – trade, tourism, diplomacy, etc.

We need to be mature and understand that the policies of the past have failed and hence to continue down the same path for 60 years and keep failing is madness.

This will cause Israel to be less belligerent, less hostile, less right wing and open the space for saner and more amenable voices to be heard.

After all we are cousins.

we should make peace no doubt about that, but only after a palestine exists or till israel annexes gaza and the west bank and gives the same rights and benefits to the arabs.

No dude, they are. This is just propaganda. You need to see the horrors, the treachery these Palestinians unleashed before Israel became a state.

I squarely blame the Palestinians (if there is such a nation)

where are you getting your info from? history isn't your strong side huh?

Muslims and Jews at peace ? That was a great weekend joke :D
we lived in peace for hundreds of years till 1948.

There were mistakes by both sides, but that was then 60 years later, we need to acommodate both parties, and one of us will have to make the first move, it is likelythat the Muslims will need to move first to give space to the moderates in the Israel. Zion is now a fact and we need to accept that and hence make peace, our overtures will be met with reason and give and take.

The Jews started the game of betrayal from the battle of Ahzab (Ghazwa-e-Ahzab).
And then after their Independence again they betrayed the muslims .

we do need to do something i agree on that with you. this fighting can't continue over a piece of land. i say palestinians join israel. they are already 20 percent of the israel population and once the gazans and the people in the west bank join israel then their population will be close to 50 percent and after a decade or two they will be the majority:yahoo:

He thinks all those Jews who live in Israel have the mentality of holocaust victims or are holocaust victims...it's sad. It's the opposite, most Israelis will say yes to pushing the Palestinians out their territories. That's what they mean when they say they want peace.

He talks about holocaust victims and doesn't realize some are getting little support from their government.

And we aren't giving up our arms. The Gaza Strip is prone to hostile aggression by Israel. They reserve their right to acquire arms to defend themselves of Israeli attacks.

Just look at the Likud Charter, the prime minster of Israel belongs to this party and tell me how do people make peace with such a right wing government.

In the Likud Charter, there's no such a thing as Palestine. They refer to it as Judea and Samaria. They don't recognize the Palestinian territory.

People will claim it was adjusted in 1999 after elections. Down to the core they have the same intentions.

Looks like they are not interested in peace, firing at a 6 year old boy?

Dude by that logic you have to cut down relations with all Muslims too. Muslim extremists killed many Pakistani childs in Pakistan. Their are extremists in every religion. Why selective hatred?

.
Desperate Pakistanies suggesting desperate measures in desperate times.

I can understand their plight, but one question for them will they allow Israeli fighters to use their bases when they attack Iran ???

.....

Desperate India desperately made peace with Israel (by establishing diplomatic relations) in 1992 (which they had avoided so far) to desperately deal with the problem in Kashmir

Haha , evil Indians using Israeli techs to subdue Pakistanies and Pakistanies realising it so late.

Why not? 20% of Israel's citizens are Muslims and we live in peace.

But would you live in country where 80% are muslims ??
