MIG 35 is brand new. it is not souped up MIG 29 as many people say.

So brand new that not even a real prototype is available!

Indeed, it is a re-design of the older Mig 29s and we already use the first version of the new airframe with the Mig 29Ks, but the fact remains, that compared to the other contenders, they are clearly less capable, way more expensive to operate, has very limited future potential and offers nothing useful in terms of alternative weapons, ToT, or industrial partnerships. The low unit costs can't counter all these big problems and we should keep in mind that not even in the first competition they were prefered by IAF, when it really was about a cost-effective and fast stop gap.

Yeah per unit cost of mig 35 is lowest. But only per unit cost is not considered during a deal like this. Saab is offering India not only full TOT but also will allow India to sell Gripen NG as its own product without any obligation or treaty.
Tell me how much we can recover then.

I think you have a wrong information. Russians have increased the cost. You can even check on Defense.pk a lot of discussion has been done on this.

True but thats not the only reason. Just tell me when you are planning to sell one of your old ship to a country, you does not analyze its condition before selling it ??

No its not that. I am a supporter of this deal.....
I am worried about the size of deal. Look at US f35 was also predicted to be around 100 million $, the prize rose to 140 million $ and still they have to add few crucial features which would make it more costly.
Just do the math....even an increase of 10 million $ on every fighter means 3 billion $.
Let me tell you, there is a great possibility that prize may rise to 25 million $, then what ?/

In my opinion,this is one of our best deal yet......but if are spending this much atleast govt. should clear whether russia is ready to give us all important techs?

as i says , it will be b/t mig-35 & gripen in the end , mig-35 has a edge due to various reasons but lets see , both have equal chance...

i am not a Mod insider , me too get news from net only , and this is what i get on the increased su-30 cost issue , i think this artcle make sence :Su-30MKI TOT and Local Manufacture: Is It Worth It?

In my opinion i would go for gripen. We could manufacture as many as we want in the future. Saab is like offering everything to us. Just check out their website for gripen IN. Its cool. Even in case of BVRs Gripen is ahead of all of the fighters as it is offering both US and European BVR missiles.

F-35 can do that as well..this is a basic requirement for 5th gen fighters.
