The United Kingdom is open to Saudi participation in the pioneering fighter jet project

A senior British defense source told the Financial Times: “We see Saudi Arabia
As a key partner in the fighter program, we are working to ensure a solid progression as soon as possible."

- It is expected that the Saudi participation will include a significant contribution to engineering expertise

- The program is expected to cost in excess of $91 billion.

But Riyadh's request created discussions in the alliance, as Japan opposed its membership while the United Kingdom and Italy were open to the idea.

Tokyo worries that having a fourth member in the alliance could push back the already tight deadline. The countries aim to develop the aircraft in roughly half the time it took to build the Eurofighter Typhoon, using advanced manufacturing methods and digital tools.

Claysen said talks about Riyadh's bid were taking place at a government level, and BAE was focused on delivering the program on time, although it "supports the UK government in its talks".

In response to a question whether there was a risk that the 2035 date might be postponed in light of Saudi Arabia's request, Claysen said: "Not at all."

British defense officials had previously told the Financial Times that the kingdom was seen as a "key partner" in the GCAP fighter programme. Saudi Arabia could also bring in funds and engineering expertise for the project.

The Japanese Ministry of Defense said in a statement to the "Financial Times" that the door is open for the participation of another country in the "GCAP fighter program."

But on condition that there is no delay in the development schedule. She also said that Japan will make efforts to strengthen defense ties with Saudi Arabia, the country's largest oil supplier. The ministry declined to comment on whether Tokyo would support or oppose the Saudi intervention.

Britain's Ministry of Defense said it was "committed to delivering this world-leading combat aircraft alongside our partners by 2035".

He added that although securing export orders was a major part of the programme, the question of how and if other countries would join became more difficult given the amount of work that had already been done.

"You start to look more at the hierarchy or other mechanisms, where people can have at least observer status, all the way to being a full partner," he said.

Japan's Defense Ministry said the United Kingdom and Italy have stressed the export potential of the GCAP program. They are discussing a review of the country's arms export policy.

Sweden, which launched a joint study with the UK in 2019 to collaborate on a joint program to develop combat aviation, is no longer participating, although Claesen said that does not mean the "door is hermetically closed" to Saab, the country's main defense contractor.

因みに中東諸国は資金力を背景に欧米の防衛企業、IT企業、AIに関連したベンチャーなどを積極的に買収しているため、サウジアラビアに技術がないと見下していると何れ痛い目にあうはずだ。

This is an important point. The article says, "Because Saudi Arabia has bought so many defense, IT and artificial intelligence companies, you'd be wrong (feel pain) if you thought Saudi Arabia didn't have the technology.

Construction of the first prototype should begin in 2025, and the aircraft should make its first flight in 2028.

The aircraft are scheduled to enter the Royal Air Force in 2035, replacing the fleet of Typhoon fighters.

In addition, the UK government is more interested in the domestic program of the promising aircraft, since the total number of ordered American F-35B fighters has been reduced to 80 plates.

In addition, Martin Baker and BAE Systems conducted the first trials of an ejection seat for the Tempest aircraft in June 2023.

The company is also showing footage of the BAE Mosquito unmanned systems, which are supposed to play a role in air battles.

It is important to agree on the appearance of the aircraft between the three countries in 2024-2025.

The Tempest is being developed under the GCAP (Global Combat Air Programme) program, which includes the UK, Italy and Japan.

In addition, based on the scientific and technical research that these countries will conduct, Japan will create its version of the new generation of aircraft under the name F-X.

“Intelligence Online” newspaper confirmed that the US administration had given the green light to approve the sale, after extensive consultations between the two sides during the presence of the Saudi Assistant Defense Minister in the United States.

Saudi Arabia's purchase of F-35 fighters represents an important step towards modernizing its air fleet, as these aircraft are among the most advanced fighters in the world, and thus will enhance its defense capabilities and readiness to face potential challenges.

Talks between the United States and Saudi Arabia over the F-35 deal are likely to continue in the coming weeks, as the two sides try to reach an agreement that meets their mutual interests.

Scientists Reveal Saudi Arabia Desert Is NOT What We Thought

Imagine that. Saudiya went from being a 90% importer of agricultural supplies to an exporter in just about 60 years with arguably the most difficult climate to resource water in. That is an incredible accomplishment.

And to cultivate and harvest surpluses of grain and wheat to the point where they had to slow down production for the sake of conserving water is insane. What a massive success story and an indication of how well the royalty has made very intelligent investments in the most critical areas.

And the tapping of the aquafir is nothing short of brilliant. What a genius way of making great use of extracting underground water for all that farming and then discipling the recycled waste for the tremendous agricultural need. Just incredible. And most of the rest of the world thinks that oil is all Saudiya can and is producing.

Talks between the United States and Saudi Arabia over the F-35 deal are likely to continue in the coming weeks, as the two sides try to reach an agreement that meets their mutual interests.

We've been talking about this possibility for a bit, now. Let's hope the US does the right thing despite their brutal conditions on terms of usage. This will be big if it happens, for sure. Makes one think what the UAE will or has been doing for their acquisition.

there are tons of animals lives there, when you divide their habitat how can they sustain their lifes, is there any serious ecological study for this 170 km arab wall?

That's a good point. I would think and hope they researched the environmental impact this brilliant concept would have on the entire environment. Even if they build this Line in let's say north to south directions thinking that ground animals migrate in the same direction that it wouldn't necessarily impact could disrupt it. I guess it would take time for the migrating animals to adjust to taking certain routes and deal with food sources that would also be impacted. They ended up figuring out that the spaces between the steel columns would reduce the impact.

The same issue came up with environmentalists here in the United States when Trump was threatening building the wall on the border with Mexico. That was primarily east to west and most species migrations are in the north/south and vice-versa, so the impact for would be considerable even for animals looking for food. Even birds would be affected despite being able to fly instead of being relegated to the ground because their food sources would be affected.

In Saudiya's case. they might have to break up the Line in certain incremental ways, just to give land animals ways to migrate and search for food.

Turkey's ASER Technology has concluded its first contract for the GHOST Air Safety Shield system to supply the GHOST system to the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI) in partnership with GADDI Holding.

The anti-drone system to be developed together will incorporate innovative technologies over the existing GHOST version and will be introduced to the global market.

GHOST Air Safety Shield is developed as a compact DSP-controlled and DDS-based system that will detect drones and disable the RF control range automatically.

In service 7/24, day and night and in all weather conditions, the Air Safety Shield has emerged as an effective electronic warfare system solution consisting of drone detection and digital radio frequency jamming systems.

The system features a wide-area detection surveillance radar that can provide situational awareness in the fight against very small UAVs.

It works at borders, on the coast, in critical facilities and in security monitoring applications.
The radar system, built into the drone class, automatically identifies instantaneous rotary and fixed-wing aircraft identification and identifies the threat by distinguishing between drones and birds.

High-resolution radar provides 360-degree situational awareness. Despite the low radar output power, the UAV detection distance is up to 6 km in small fixed-wing UAVs.

The connection between the RF transceiver systems of detected drones is cut off by the RF jammer and the drones are neutralized.

GHOST Air Safety Shield can be used to secure airports, military units, headquarters, police stations, prisons, detention centers, critical areas and meeting rooms.

Saudi Arabia is studying the possibility of purchasing up to 200 Rafale aircraft in the long term, roughly equivalent to the number of F-15 and Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft it currently possesses..

The source pointed out that despite the discussions about purchasing the Rafale, Saudi Arabia is still interested in the American F-35 fighters.

He added that the discussions between the Saudi and French ministers also addressed the possibility of Saudi Arabia joining the FCAS/SCAF project, one of its basic elements being the sixth-generation NGF fighter.

The source stated that issues related to the purchase of “Rafale” and Saudi Arabia’s participation in developing the FCAS project will be discussed during the French Minister of Defense’s meeting with the Saudi Crown Prince, Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The Rafale is one of the most modern fighters in the world, and is equipped with a wide range of modern weapons and technologies. This aircraft is considered an attractive option for Saudi Arabia, because it allows it to enhance its air capabilities and achieve independence from the United States.

If Saudi Arabia succeeds in purchasing the Rafale, this deal will be one of the largest arms deals in the world.

A potential purchase of 200 Rafales will put the UAE order of 80 to shame, dang. That is a huge number if we think about it. Assuming the average cost of each Rafale when all is said and done will be around $100 million +/- a piece (I know it could be less, just an average to do the math) that'll end up being around $20 billion. A number Saudiya could easily absorb and good for her.

My serious question is whether they're using Dassault to put pressure on the US for the F-35? That's a huge possibility and to also put pressure on Germany to back-peddle the boycott on the Eurofighter Typhoon since that might be what they prefer to keep acquiring to add to their already existing fleet.

The same could be said for their interest in the NFG fighter. If they're putting pressure on the US for the F-35 to the point where the US will have to tell the scaredy cat entity that they don't care about what they think any more and that they want to sell Saudi the F-35 for much more than economic reasons. This could very well be a genius plan by MBS to play all parties against each other and end up with what they really want instead of settling for the next option. If that's the case, I love it.

If they do end up with the Rafale, they'll be the first to operate both delta/canard platforms making Egypt bum out for not inking the Italian mega deal!
