Question ?

I googled 'Rural India' to get a grip on things.
I was surprised at how far it's caught up, I'd put it at par with rural Pakistan.
Rural Pakistan dominated by Punjab is indisputably one of mankind's greatest agriculture treasures.
However, those 10's of millions of Hero Honda, Bajaj, TVS, Yamaha and Suzuki's; all the millions of rural mini-trucks and 3-wheelers eg. Vikram's, millions of tractors and mini-tractors, the millions of 3'rd-5'th hand maruti's and maybe a million or two of assorted other discarded vehicles are nowhere to be seen ?

Rural India is criss-crossed by trains. So mini trucks, tractors and motor-cycles are all the rage.
My googling 'Rural India' didn't throw up anything, anybody know why?

Ford hikes engine production at Chennai plant by 80,000 units

Ford India today announced it has completed the expansion of its engine plant, increasing annual engine production capacity 36% to 340,000, helping transform the facility into a regional small engine hub.

The new facility was completed in record time of just over 14 months and creates capacity in manufacturing over additional 80,000 diesel engines annually. The additional capacity will feed the demand for diesel powertrains in India and growing exports, creating more employment opportunities in the process, the company said.

"We are delighted to see this new addition to our capacity in the engine plant as we gear up to move to the next stage of growth in India and the region," said Michael Boneham, president and managing director, Ford India.

The facility is the first Ford plant in the world with single flexible production line manufacturing petrol and diesel engines. It is also the first Ford facility to run a flexible crank shaft production line producing crank shafts, and to have a fully flexible cold test, hot test and Dyno test facility for petrol and diesel engines.

"We are at an interesting phase of growth with the markets demanding swift responses from manufacturers, and with this plant's flexible production lines of both petrol and diesel engines, we're well-poised to move quickly," Boneham added.

Ford is currently building seven new plants across Asia Pacific and Africa, and we are making a significant commitment in India, which will see it become a regional hub for low-displacement engine production

The Tata Pixel is a rear-engined four-passenger city car, unveiled on 1st of March 2011 by Tata Motors at the 81st International Motor Show in Geneva and aimed primarily at the European market. It is based on the Tata Nano platform.

Features The Tata Pixel concept includes following features

and park in tight spaces due to the
zero turn toroidal traction-drive,
Infinitely Variable Transmission (IVT)

turning circle radius of 2.6 meters.
The steering and the transmission
work together so that each wheel is
driven independently with inputs
from the steering system. By applying reverse drive on a single
rear wheel and forward drive on a
single front wheel, the car is able to turn almost in its own length.[5] Low Carbon Footprint and High
Fuel Efficiency The Tata Pixel features a start stop
hybrid and regenerative braking system, with a fuel efficient and low
emission diesel engine. It has CO2
emissions of 89 gm/km and
combined cycle fuel economy of 3.4 litres/100 km.[6] Design The Tata Pixel features a
monographic roof, silver shaped
window graphic and forward
sweeping roof line. It also features a
‘Scissor’ door system for access and visibility.

which provides integration of smart
phones or tablet with the vehicle’s
information, and entertainment
system and also allows the user to
control the key functions of the car.
