You think the US is being so nice, and just handing you technology that it doesn't even trust its closest allies with, without strings? Even if you paid a trillion dollars per F-16s, the US would still use it as a political leverage.

That is how the US works, it uses defense deals, economic ties, investment, and aid to get what it wants. India is a tool for the US, and its a shame that India doesn't seem to be learning from Pakistan's mistakes.

The Kuwaiti Superhornet deal is closed and being made here, All F-16 orders are going to be fulfilled here. So where is the customer for which there will be investment to make in India?

India had the option to go for the Superhornet and involve Boeing in the Tejas to truly synergize its industry instead of falling for the French Floozy that eventually cant even get going at 36 jets; let alone 120.

India is going to choose one or two more jets apart from Rafale for MII.

Pakistan should consider acquiring Su-35 and Mig-35

I think MIG-35 is very much possible for PAF, as the cost should not be more than 45 Million in flyaway condition. And if you watch Zhuk rp-35 AESA Radar, TVC, 7.5 ton weapon load, and decent range is compatiable to the Western 4.5 Gen standards.

SU-35 could be leased, and China could play a good role in making such deal.

Either Rafale or F 16

If Rafale is not made then Rafale off the shelf purchase will be 60 units or slightly more

His mentioning needs the Air Force to agree. The only possible logic to get another fighter is to deny Pakistan any source for hardware; there is literally NO other reason. That is a strategy but it also means a logistical nightmare for the IAF; something it already goes through every day.

Not sure about F 16's but IAF would surely love to have surplus C17's from US. It's sad we wasted a lot of time in ordering those white tail C17's.

your rught about the IAF wish list but its either gonna be F16 or F18 + rafale+LCA

now question is why third fighter well cause we need to replacall Mig21s and Mig27s of IAF and LCA alone cant do that so to complement it its gonna be a american fighter so it gives an added punch and of course the political milage which sweden can never ever hope to give india

MKI with PAKFA/FGFA in future is for air superiorty and interception while M2K , Jaguar & rafale in future is for ground strike , CAS DEAD and SEAD missions while Mig29 and new US fighter are for escorting and limited strike while LCA or LCA MK1A are for point defence /internal air policing jobs .... hope it clears your curiosity

IAF wont go for that .
They dont need another low end single engine fighter since we already ordered LCA .
But LM can open a factory in here to produce this best jet for much cheaper price .Cheaper than even Chinese or Russian.F 16 is a best seller .So that wont affect their image even IAF dont opt that jet.

That then will be the Gripen and the death knell for the Tejas. Because TATA would lobby or bribe to make it happen. The F-16 is a chance in hell and the Hornet is something the IAF would lobby against. A new fighter that is NOT the AMCA program has no positive outcomes for India's industry.

I dont think so .We Anil Ambani group also in there .TAT is already burned their hands in Radia tape case and Tatra truck .So lobbying wont work in there .And in Parliament left MPs and opposition will fry Centre if they touch LCA.

Personally I believe its going to be Rafales, One more foreign fighter and LCA Mk2 with SAAB co-operation. The reason for the second foreign fighter is keeping in mind the huge demand for Indian Naval Aviation requirements aswell.
