Made In China: Hanoians Have Mixed Feelings About Their New Metro Trains

It show vietnamese have bad taste but China just do it according to vietnamese request. No fault for Chinese. :D

Do you know what is called inflation? Any of your mention project completed in same time as Vietnam one? And the price you quote included train and other support, land acquisition plus plus? Are you implying vietnamese are dumb? :D

every where in the world the cost estmation is done in same way.

Price adjustment is about more than 300 US$ has been made.:p:

Đường sắt Cát Linh - Hà Đông đội vốn hơn 300 triệu USD - Xã hội - Zing.vn

This kind of comparison is meaningless, as all projects have different circumstance. Case in point: Saigon Metro Line 2, 11.3 km, but the cost is 1.2 billion dollars, makes it more than 100 million/km. You should believe Vietnamese people are very smart, and your government officers will act for the best interest of Vietnam.
Depends Saigon metro line 1 is 19 km costs only 1.1 billion dollar.

It either vietnamese is dumb to take in China deal or you failed to answer my inflation question?

You don't work for construction work, what I do. You don't understand my answer at all.:-)

See, even in Saigon, line 1 and line 2 have different price tags.
You don't work for construction work, what I do. You don't understand my answer at all.:-)
You mean you are a construction worker, trying to trying to do an estimation of how you break down vietnam metro line pricing?

The same house would cost very differently in New York City or in Nashville Tennessee. This is a common sense, not only for someone works in construction, but also for any John or Joe on the street.

Our Vietnamese friend is trying hard to prove Chinese has out-smarted Vietnamese. :cheesy:

Why dont Chinese just admit that the China metro in Vietnam is poor quality. A metro line cost $868 for 11km causes 2 civilian dead and since started in 2011 now 4 years still has not completed. we are customer not beggars for those metro lines even though there are about $400 ODA from China. Greedy northern Vietnamese love inferior products for cheap price, they get what they paid for. Look at smart Saigonese they opt for Japan metro (with ODA from Japan of course), tthe cost is not much different $1.1 billion for 19km and the metro looks so much higher quality. Saigonese always out smart Hanoian for every thing, be it economic, or entertainment. Two distinct cultures in one small country.

I didn't know south Vietnamese hate North Vietnamese so much. It is a shocker! Thinking about breaking up? I heard Line 1 in Saigon will be delayed from 2018 to 2020. Anyway, everyone gets what they want, so just be happy. :cheesy:

For this specific case, both of you are absolutely correct. Vietnamese officials were dumb and got outsmarted for accepting this dumb deal. Unless, those officials got bribed with money from the Chinese side, then that would mean that they were smart and the Hanoian taxpayers are dumb for letting their money going into such waste into corrupt officials and Chinese pocket.

China should work more closely with the North Vietnamese power elites while undermining the South Vietnamese in key positions. :P

No. This is just my personal idea while sitting in my office in a city across the Straits. I guess this kind of policies, even if they exist, never made public.
