1. Palace on Wheels

A trip on the train is like travelling back in time as you meander through Rajasthan. Turban-wearing attendants take over from the moment you drive to the platform, assigning you your coupes and detailing all facilities on board. The train moves by night and arrives each morning at a new destination where new experiences await you.

Route: The train chugs out of Safdarjung Railway Station New Delhi cantonment on a week-long run through Rajasthan. It covers Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bharatpur and Agra.

Travel Info: The Palace on Wheels runs from September until the end of April each year.

Cost: Rs. 36000 per person, per night, based on double occupancy from October to March. Rs.26,500 per person, per night, based on double occupancy during September and April. Rates include accommodation, meals, sightseeing tours, entrance fees to monuments, and cultural entertainment. Service charges and alcohol are additional.

The Royal Rajasthan on Wheels takes a slightly different route to the hugely popular Palace on Wheels. What also sets this train apart from any other luxury train in India is its unabashed lavishness. The train is designed in contemporary royal style.

Route: It departs from Delhi and visits Sawai Madhopur, Udaipur, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Agra, and Varanasi.

Travel Info: The Royal Rajasthan on Wheels runs from September until the end of April each year.

Cost: A double deluxe saloon (twin share) costs Rs. 38500 per person, per night. A super deluxe saloon (suite) costs Rs.104500 per saloon, per night. Rates include accommodation, meals, sightseeing tours, entrance fees to monuments, and cultural entertainment. Service charges, alcohol, spa, and business facilities are additional. There is also a 3.09% service tax. An additional 10% is payable over Christmas/New Year.

The Golden Chariot, named after the famous Stone Chariot in Hampi, travels through timeless historical heritage sites, wildlife and golden beaches. The Golden Chariot has two trains - The Pride of the South that runs through Karnataka and the Southern Splendor that also runs through Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Route - Pride of the South: The journey begins from Bangalore and traverses through the Nagarhole National Park, Mysore, visiting Srirangapatna, Mysore Palace and continuing to the historical sites of Shravanabelagola, Belur and Halebidu, and a world heritage site Hampi. Thereafter, it enters Badami and Pattadakal and finally the beaches of Goa before culminating the trip in Bangalore.

Route - Southern Splendour: It covers three states taking travellers through exotic locales starting from Bangalore and passing through Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu and ending the journey in Kochi.

Travel Info: Runs from October to April. Passengers can hop on and hop off anywhere along the routes, as long as they spend a total of three nights aboard.

Cost: "The Pride of the South" costs 16,500 rupees for Indians and $545 for foreigners per person, per night, based on double occupancy. The total for seven nights is 115,500 rupees ($3,815) per person. "Southern Splendor" costs 19,800 rupees for Indians and $627 for foreigners per person, per night, based on double occupancy. The total for seven nights is 138,600 rupees ($4,389) per person.



5. Mahaparinirvana Train

Route: It’s a sacred journey that includes visits to the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites of Lumbini (where the Buddha was born), Bodhgaya (where he attained enlightened), Varanasi (where he first preached), and Kusinagar (where he passed away and attained nirvana).

haha Sure :p: The room is yours, they take you through beautiful valleys and streams and waterfalls amazing journey on the whole.

Interiors
Each saloon highlights the cultural ethos of the state, represented through the use of furniture, handicrafts, painting and furnishings. Delhi-based interior designer Monica Khanna did the interiors of the train.

Facilities
There are 14 coaches in the train. Each is named after former Rajput states and matches the aesthetics and interiors of the royal past: Alwar,Bharatpur, Bikaner, Bundi, Dholpur, Dungargarh, Jaisalmer, Jaipur, Jhalawar, Jodhpur, Kishangarh, Kota, Sirohi and Udaipur.[6] Each coach has four cabins (named chambers or saloons by the company) with luxury amenities.

The train has two restaurants, The Mahārāja and The Mahārāni, with a Rajasthani ambiance serving continental, Chinese cuisine, one bar cum lounge & spa saloon.

The train has a 7 nights & 8 days itinerary departs from New Delhi (Day 1), and covers Jaipur (Day 2),Sawai Madhopur and Chittaurgarh (Day 3), Udaipur (Day 4), Jaisalmer (Day 5), Jodhpur (Day 6),Bharatpur and Agra (Day 7), return to New Delhi (Day 8).
