Come again, Syed Rockefeller?LUMS is on a land gifted by US consulate..The gave Syed Babar Rockefeller $10 million back in 1988.
And accommodate his tribe and friends besides creating a power vacuum later on. No thank you we are better off with any system than a he man personaPakistan is now a breeding ground of snake heads....
Time to bring a strict dictator who will shove a danda in every hole of a snake.
Come again, Syed Rockefeller?
Some of the land to LUMS was gifted by Army by Corps Commander Humayun Khan Bangash whose daughter Maleeha Bangash (sibling of famous singer Zeb Bangash) was studying in LUMS in those years back in 1990-93 years. Before that LUMS used to be near Hussain Chowk in Gulberg.LUMS is on a land gifted by US consulate..The gave Syed Babar Rockefeller $10 million back in 1988.

Nothing wrong with calling for an end to the media crackdown, extrajudicial kidnappings and detention, right to organise and have student unions (as all students do globally), calling for an end to heavy handed establishment interference, defending the right to protest and to free speech.
A lot of these students also have very particular issues they want to raise. Regarding university administration and accommodation etc.
All of these are reasonable positions and one doesn’t need to be a leftist to support them.
I don’t know where this absurd idea came from in Pakistan that universities aren’t politicised elsewhere in the world, that student unions are apolitical, and that students should not protest or be seditious. Come see what happens on UK university campuses and globally, they protest and organise freely, student unions are elected and represent student’s interests and their politics. Students in the UK even have national political groups and student unions.
I’m glad you’re approaching this sensibly.Students should be political on campus, struggle to argue their causes, speak truth to power, but not in a seditious manner. Reform the state, don’t over throw it. Fight from within the law.
I’m not saying these students are seditious, and perhaps the majority of PTM members are standing up for their rights in a legal manner, but these are the people who are best placed to reform society from within. The are well educated, well connected, and have the means to amplify there message far and wide. With great power comes great responsibility; I just hope they exercise their power and influence responsibly.
I’m glad you’re approaching this sensibly.
However, one comment I’ll make on this. Sedition is what led to democratisation of Europe. People didn’t change to become less seditious, the governance structure changed to allow discussion of what was previously considered seditious thought.
When our people criticise authority it is branded seditious. In any true democracy, their views would be allowed and valid. It would not be branded seditious.
This is a ‘which came first, chicken or the egg?’ scenario.
Some protests are only seen as seditious if the powers are too draconian. If same protest is applied elsewhere in a freer society/polity, then it’s not considered seditious.
You’ll disagree with me on this, but I know for a fact that the current system will not even allow open dissent or criticism of it, let alone reform.I agree that sensible protest can be seen as seditious to a government that is too draconian. This is why, I believe they should better articulate their viewpoints and put it to the government, to hear their response. Let the government respond to their argument with a counter argument. The current government may see the logic to arguments and make the needed reforms. If they don’t they can take their cause to the people, and if they win support there, they are get their issues added to the platform of a party challenge the government in the next election. Either way, they should reform the system from within, if there are legals means at their disposal. I don’t believe they have exhausted all of their legal means.
What's wrong with being a "a leftist militant"
Business students should be encourage to take Arts Minors. Gives them something creative and productive to do.
The old adage; if your not a leftie when your 20 you don’t have a heart, but if your still a leftie when your 30 you don’t have a brain.
i think these leftists r those who smoke ice
Cant afford another Al-Zulfiqar
I tell my folks..there used to be a time when leftist liberals used to be the daeish/AQ of world
they had their own sucide squad
had idiots who used to proudly call themselves soldiers of che and the red flag(khooni inqilab)
Most of them got trained in Afghanistan,India,Libya, Egypt, Syria and Iraq.
They were pretty strong in Pakistan back in 70s..but thanks to Zia ul Haq you know..he is the man..Thats why Dawn and khooni liberal hate him.
Most of them are offspring's of Military men. Go back either their fathers or grandfathers have served. The most Anti-Pakistan People i have ever met were either Extremely Religious folks who didnt believe in the modern day Borders but even then they didnt hate its people but the most vile type of hatred i have seen for the people, culture and state of Pakistan is from this lot they despise everything about them.
LUMS, Quaid-i-Azam University etc. These are not leftists. These academics are anarchists. I have met a few here in The Netherlands. Their mindset is extremely dangerous. The most dangerous part is they are funded by foreign embasssies. Some of them visit foreign countries on exchange programs and develop new worse ideas regarding the state. They get more extreme and stubborn.
How is that different from al Qaeda and the Taliban being supported by the Western embassies, and Tableeghi Jamaatis being supported by Saudia, Qatar etc ??
Appreciate the effort you have put into it, but you are a little late to the party....i guess you missed our OSINT report on this lot which covered Nida Kirmani:falling standards , hi fees , lack of any innovation . LUMS is a sorry state of affairs .
and now, their academia and professors are openly supporting PTM revolt and threatening state
