Why are people making this controversial because he is not chosen by Imran Khan?

He is the new army chief because he served his whole life for your country and well deserved it...

make it simple, and congrats to him.... move forward... If you don't show respect for him at the same time you can not expect respect from outsiders as well....

This website is stuffed with expat privileged class who are completely and utterly taken over by the populist narrative. Some of them have financial interests and few of them are working as PTI's social media team member, with the core objective to strengthen, glorify or defend Khan's every single right/wrong , good/bad moves or policies or act/statements at all cost. We don't need Indian members here to ridicule/mock our army unfortunately. These fools have done a fine job aleady.

The only reason behind making asim munir a COAS is that he is anti imran.
And all three stars are respected in the institution , why some one should be selected for political benefits. He is clearly a blue eyed boy of uncle SAM as well.
His selection means our national security is compromised.

Asim Munir does not have "personal" beef with Khan. He climbed military ranks on merit but he can be way too honest in his works for our politicians to be comfortable with. This is better in fact: Khan should work with people who can guide him and correct him.

Our national security is compromised? Dude? Asim has served on some of the most important posts of the military including DG-MI and DG-ISI. There is nothing shady about his works in these posts and otherwise. Simply Look at the FATE of those officers who were actually found to be working for CIA in personal capacity, and not in institutional capacity which is the correct approach.

Every country has external challenges and Pakistan is not an exception to this norm. Now, nobody on the post of COAS will be willing to pick a fight with US anyways. Khan has also recently admitted that both US and China are important for Pakistan. This is correct assessment based on economic ground realities of (and opportunities for) Pakistan. Pakistan's chief problems are underdeveloped institutions, prevalence of corruption, lack of national direction, and mismanagement of its commitments to other parties. This is a lengthy debate so I will leave it here.

Now all is said and done, how will the new COAS get respect of the public back. The army is seen as one of the actors behind the assassination of Arshad Shareef and attempted assassination of IK. What the truth is I doubt any of us here know, if IK has been calling out senior Army officials of being involved in his assassination attempt, would it be such a bad move to temporary put Dirty harry on holiday leave until the facts can be established and some kind of agreement reached with PTI?

This IMO along with stopping the picking up of journalists and threatening others would be a positive move forward.

Yeh politicians maalshiyi'on k farzand hain . Anyone holding raw power can arm twist them into declaring night as a day. Koi grace hota hai koi sharam hota hai i mean seriously their public conduct disgusts me to the core .
