Long March: China’s fifth-generation fighter is years away

China could come up with a star destroyer and still be behind the West for 40 years cause it showed up in Star Wars first.

Then England,Canad,Turkey etc.are all in the third position since they have cooperation with the yanks on the F35 project and no one doubt the F35 is a 5th generation fighter. That means the author forgot to mention a pretty long list of nations.

F-35 is multi-nation because of all the funds donated by each countries and the little countries each countries pitch in. Isn't the T-50 pretty much Russian technology funded nearly 100% by Indians?

Whats the different? Russians and yanks made the fighters, respectively.Whennever how much money you invested into the two projects, the core techs are under the control of the one who made the fighter.

Think yr confused pal India is not involved in PAK-FA but will be a joint-venture partner with equal funding in the FGFA project.

The PAK FA and the FGFA will have minimal common technology. Further the FGFA will be predominantly using weapons of Indian origin such as Astra, a Beyond Visual Range missile being developed by India, although in keeping with the Russian BVR doctrine of using a vast variety of different missiles for versatility and unpredictability to countermeasures, it can be expected to have compatibility with many different missile loadouts. The Indian FGFA is significantly different from the Russian PAK FA because a second pilot means the addition of another dimension, development of wings and control surfaces.

The FGFA may also include systems developed by third parties.

The FGFA is derived from the PAK-FA, India is not doing much structural design work. India's input is in the avionics and composites, and it's funded 50-50 but the work is 70-30 split in Russias favour.

The Indian FGFA is significantly different from the Russian aircraft because a second pilot means the addition of another dimension, development of wings and control surfaces,

India’s work-share for the joint fighter programme, according to HAL officials, will amount to about 30% of the overall design effort. This will centre on composite components and high-end electronics like the mission computer, avionics, cockpit displays and the electronic warfare systems. Additionally, India will have to redesign the single-seat PAK-FA into the two-seater fighter that the IAF prefers. Like the Sukhoi-30MKI, IAF prefers one pilot flying and the other handling sensors, networks and weaponry.

MR Hirsch believes that Russians have compromised on stealth to keep the aircraft more maneuverable and under a tight budget to keep per aircraft cost under control , Russians simply cannot afford to have such a expensive plane in large numbers , but Indians seems to have realized that and will be doing 30 % of the design changes to improve stealth characters of the aircraft .

No one is saying the argument is ungrounded and no in the world is more aware of this gap than the Chinese and the Chinese government (ignoring the fanboys), but just that the reason why this article was posted by some Indian moron is purely out of jealousy. A country with neither the will or experience to build a modern jet fighter, seeking demean the efforts of others. The petty mindedness and blind pride is astonishing.

Seems Chinese can not take any form of criticism and have to get all defensive with personal attacks
