London police detains 64-year-old MQM member in money laundering case: sources

KARACHI:

London Metropolitan Police arrested a 64-year-old man on suspicion of money laundering, according to a press released on Wednesday.

The identity or ethnicity of the man could not be ascertained as it was not mentioned in the MET’s press release.The sources, however, ruled out the possibility of MQM chief Altaf Hussain being detained by the police.

“We are still verifying who the party members detained are. But it is not the MQM chief,” the sources claimed.“This arrest is part of an on going investigation into money laundering,” the press release added.

The arrest took place at a residential address in north west London.“He has since been taken into custody at a central London police station and enquiries continue.” Further, the press release stated officers are at present searching the address.

It added that five other men previously arrested in connection with the investigation into money laundering remain on police bail.

no dear , no body is Conspiring against MQM , they are paying for their wrong stuff .. no one ever say MQM is angel , mostly people including me , our point is that If you are going out of the track to take action against MQM , why not do same with other parties ? MQM is not the only one responsible in mess of Karachi ... but people just blame MQM which is wrong ..

most number of raids were on ttp, then pac/lyari gangs, the mqm, then anp, then ji. no other party is crying over it, only mqm.

yaar same thing, i repeat it hundred of time .... TTP , PAC are terrorist organization not political forces , there is no major operation happening against any political force in Karachi ... PAC is tool of PPPP , go and arrest PPP leaders ... like Zardari and Zulfiqar mirza and Rehman malik , than we will talk ..

and MQM is very calm , they are not even protesting , by closing city etc ..no jalao gheerao , so its a good sign ..

which MQM leader was arrested that you demand PPP leaders also be arrested?

and MQM is very calm , they are not even protesting , by closing city etc

if you didn't know, Karachi was shut 1 and a half day after 9-0 raid, incurring losses of Rs. 3bn.
And who said they are not protesting? Some days they threaten rangers, somedays media channels. in my opinion that's worse than protesting.

in my opinion , all of the facets and parties are responsible for this #Karachi situation, as we can not spare or separate #PMLN, #PMLQ, #JUI, #Sunni_Tehreek, #MQM_haqiqi, #Jiye_Sindh, #JSQM, #Imamia_Students(Shite sect) and more specifically #Self_Groups are none of the members of any political party but take their flags while attacking other groups... and are the main reason for city's tension at any time when these parties tried to reinstate city's situation to peace...
so if it is started, well started but have to be across the board, as only MQM, ANP, PPP dont have military wings or weapons, Jamat e Islami, Imamia students organization(other Shia party), Sunni tehreek(or ex Sipah e Sahaba), LEj or other parties or groups that you find in other parts of Pakistan can be easily found in Karachi also...
so it has to be un biased and across the board for all the parties or groups affiliated with Politics, Religion or NGO's also...
and along with it, have to put big fishes also behind the bars, not only small workers ... and to bring all the looted and stolen billions or trillions back to #Pakistan...
