Lockheed Martin offers F-16 Block 70, for India, from India, exported to the world

With the Damocles targeting pod it'll be deadly acquisition.
But, isnt the production line shut down?

Will have to buy 2nd hand which should be affordable, if you guys piss the french off on the Rafale and go for American hardware then this shouldnt be hard to hook up.

F16 is an an excellent platform but it has reached the limits of its maturity and i fail to see any unique operational advantages it gives over Rafale,
I would like to disagree! If we go in for the F-16, it would be the Block 70/72, a spanking new 4++ generation fighter. Under the deal, the company will be manufacturing the latest version of the jets that will be produced “exclusively” in India.

This will be the “most advanced” version and will not be built anywhere else in the world. Lockheed Martin also plans to export them from the India plant at a later stage. The F-16 project would be a government-to-government deal that will be conducted through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) route.

The integration of fifth-generation technology into the fourth-generation platform is pretty much what makes an already-potent fighter an even more potent air-to-air and air-to-ground killer.

The most powerful upgrade comes in the form of the AN/APG-80 AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) radar system that gives the pilot incredible situational awareness and the ability to target and track in any weather/atmospheric condition with stunning precision.

An infrared search and track (IRST) system, the ability to integrate the Indian Air Force’s Operational Data Link (which allows for interoperability with other Indian fighter/attack/AWACS/support units), an onboard electronic warfare suite from Raytheon, and an upgraded modular mission computer add to the F-16 blk 70/72's sizable resume.

The cockpit is being redeveloped to an extent, with three color high-definition MFDs (multi-function flight displays) feeding the pilot everything he needs to know, as well as the ability to integrate the Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS). An updated General Electric F110-132A will function as the sole power-plant, able to output over 32,000 pounds of thrust, and will have conformal fuel tanks (CFTs) with a built-in fuel probe, designed to mate with the basket/drogue refueling system used by Indian aerial tankers, instead of the boom/receptacle system commonly used by American F-16s.

And most of all it will be extremely cost effective in the long run as India would be the sole base for major overhauls and spares of the over 4,500 F-16s in service worldwide. And needless to say, the latest F-16 blk 70/72 would have dozens of air forces around the world interested in buying them - from India!

UAE and Qatar. But, they don't have'em in large #'s.
Brazil could.

Some can call it fighter mafia but isn't it egoistic corruption ? and no body can negate big or small financial corruptions.

It's really very sad to see where PAF today stands in front of IAF. Nation's trust has been shaken. They should stop milking stories of 60s and 70s now. It's not same air force as it used to be in 60s and 70s.
Kargil was eye opening shake and still after 18 years they don't want to come out of their egoistic dreams.

Agree.. India will get F-16 V and we have 18 F-16 Block 52+ and rest are MLUed to Block 50 Standard

Jisne bhi likha hai sahi likha hai :rofl::rofl:

It's alright, India can sell some F16 to Pakistan under made in India

o_Oo_Oo_O Yeah right

o_Oo_Oo_O Yeah right

These 18 block 52 fly under observation of US.
Most horrible dream would be India getting software codes under ToT.

US was never a trust worthy defence partner for Pakistan but now sides have been taken clearly. Pakistan doesn't has even option to be neutral. Don't know if somebody has told respected Air Marshals.

Nobody is gonna buying F-16 in India, unless the LM offered twin engine F-16. There should be some limit to the Fannism, before posting B.S theory check the IAF requirement of the Deep Strike DPSU role, which is Rafale F3R which is coming, and LCA Tejas which is already ordered, Baki LM joined the SAAB in the Paid news Propaganda --- Lagge Raho Mammu Log, tum ko Milega Baba Ji ka Thuloo.

Propaganda stuff switched On..

Deep inside some mountain in a elite USA facility , an electric switch will suddenly be turned ON and Indian planes will become official hangar queens..

That's the fear every Indian DM will have when he sees such proposals.

The more its latest, the higher the chances of the electronic switch in a software embedded code in someplace...

Propaganda Stuff switched off...

. . .
Replace the Mirages i would say in both Strike and Naval roles.

Indian Air Force may replace the Soviet MiG-21 aircraft with the US F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft, according to an ex-wing commander at the Indian Air Force and former chief spokesperson for the Defense Ministry.Localized production of the US F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft may help India substitute its obsolete fleet largely depending on the Soviet MiG-21 fighters as the long-awaited deal on the Rafale fighter jets between Paris and New Delhi is stalling, Praful Bakshi, an ex-wing commander at the Indian Air Force and former chief spokesperson for the Defense Ministry, told Sputnik on Saturday.

On Thursday, a vice president at the US defense contractor Lockheed Martin said that the company was willing to turn India into the sole producer of the F-16 aircraft by shutting the only active production line in Texas and shifting it to India.

“F-16 can be a nice replacement for the MiG-21 aircraft. Because when Rafale deal will materialize is not clear,” he said.Bakshi added that the technological transfer would be a crucial part of the deal.

“We have to see whether they are bringing their technology, we have to see that they should not make India just an assembly point. They must bring their technology here and fighter planes should be manufactured here. It will create employment opportunities here and foster our technological development,” he pointed out.

In January 2016, India and France signed an intergovernmental agreement on the purchase of the 36 Rafale fighter jets. The French Dassault aviation manufacturer first asked almost $12 billion for the aircraft, while New Delhi demanded a 30-percent cut to the price. In May, Paris has agreed to decrease the pricing by some 7-8 percent, thus the France’s current offer stands at some $8.6 billion.

## Like Turkey India also has the opportunity through this deal to get high technology know how from USA
