When JF-17 was inducted for the first time, it didn’t have many capabilities that it has now. It wasn’t even certified for flying by night. Most of the weapons were integrated later.Aircraft carrier with no Fighters.
Combat Chopper with no missiles.
This is possible only in India.
It appears that IAF has taken a leaf out of PAF book.
LCH will start flying with pilots getting hands on it. Engineers getting hands on maintaining it. Infrastructure coming up at bases where it would be based.
Integration of variety of weapons would be carried out over time. Holding on to integration for just want of an ATGM wouldn’t have been a good idea.
India already has a home grown HELINA ATGM which is under final stages of integration.

Bravo to HAL, IAF and our babudom to make it a success. Fact that IAF has gone ahead and accepted LCH without full spectrum of capabilities shows that things have changed from initial LCA days.
