And hows that? Just because Iranian women used to be half-naked like Western women..it doesn't mean that "Iran was modern and advance" country. Iranians should determine their OWN identity and culture.The pictures you're seeing are glaringly evident of Western influence on Iran..no they don't have any influence of West Iran is perfect now..just one problem..their rigid clergy.Their clergy needs to get more liberal and STOP imposing "chadors" on women..duhhh

Modernization and liberalism means you do what you like to do, but under the state law. State may be liberal enough to understand the ppl wish. State must not implement tyrannic middle age barbaric law/ritual on its subject.

Wearing western dress is not bad. If we go with your logic 9 out of 10 women on earth are naked/half-naked.

You are an idiot. Even though Islam has influenced Iran, Iranian culture has influenced the Islamic world way more.

Tehran looks just as modern as New York, Tokyo and Shanghai, looks even better than some American cities like Los Angeles. It seems like the news about Iranians being suppressed is completely fake.

Shiraz is the city of Gulab!! My grandfather and everyone before him knew farsi, not the Iranian farsi of today though. He recited many poems of Shiraz to me before he passed away. My father was the first that is not fluent in farsi, but can still hold a light conversation with Iranians.Me, I can only say Salam, and ask hal-e-shoma.

Major Iranian cities are pretty developed but they lack organization. The 80's and 90's were an absolute free for all because of the bad economy etc... Now things are getting better but the damage is done. Hopefully in the next couple of decades things will get better but one thing's certain, Iranian cities are much more developed than what the West wants you to believe. Shiraz, Tehran, Tabriz, isfahan etc... all either have metros and monorails or they're on the verge of being completed.

Edit: at the same time we have cities that look like African waste lands. As a Chinese you know how development for developing countries works though. Some places are left behind but will eventually catch up with time.

It's prolly the accent that's different though. For example Iranians have a hard time understanding Afghans sometimes but we have pretty much an IDENTICAL Farsi.

Lmao. My father learned farsi through the school he went to in Islamabad. He told me that the Iranian teacher would laugh when they recited poetry such as Chand Bezan Sitara, while all the students would laugh when he spoke Urdu. My grandfather however could speak farsi very well, and was used as a translator for the government. My family does not claim Iranian origins, but my grandfather emphasized that before English, the formal language of our government was Farsi/Dari.

Here in the west, Iranian women still dress like that. It doesn't make a country modern and advanced if their women are walking around showing too much skin. Some African countries have women walking around topless, are they modern?

Women and people in General should be free to do whatever they want in their life as long as they don't break the laws of said country and if it was an Islamic country God's laws that were said on his book should be implemented as well. But if no one breaks those then they should be free as much as they want. Women want to wear mini-skirts let them the Quran says that women should cover themselves but there is no punishment for not doing so hence it is not really against Shariah for a woman to show some skin if they want but they will certainly commit a sin. Which will be between her and God in the life after.

But that also does not mean that we should not at least tell them that this wrong and this is right but that is where our interference stops.
