Life-size sculpture of Ranjit Singh to be unveiled at Lahore Fort

You are entitled to disagree ....
Facts remain unchanged ...

I mean, how many folk tales of Ranjit Singh exist? And you think any non-Sikh Punjabis would remember him as vividly 2,000 years from now? I doubt it.

The modern distinctive identity of Punjab and Punjabis would never have evolved the way it did, had it not been for the genius and efforts of the greatest Punjabi statesman of all time; Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

Does this bear relation to number of dialects under the aegis of "Punjabi" right now?...and making majhi as the "standard"?

Indeed, it does ......

This great Punjabi statesman managed to bring together Punjabi Muslims, Sikhs, Hindus and Frontier Pashtuns together in one great state. He was the first Indian in a millennium to turn the tide of invasion back into the homelands of the Afghan invaders, who had been the traditional conquerors of India. He indeed was the Lion of Punjab.

To quote YLH, Ranjit Singh laid the foundations for the Punjabi parochialism that was to create such a huge problem for both Indian National Congress and the All India Muslim League, forcing the latter to search for a slogan that sought to tame this parochialism. It was this powerful parochialism that Jinnah referred to when he told Mountbatten that “A Punjabi is a Punjabi before he is a Muslim or Hindu ” while arguing against the partition of the province. This identity was given to the Punjabis by Ranjit Singh.

Some Muslims in Pakistan celebrating him is like Muslim Albanians celebrating Skanderbeg who by the way put Muslim Albanians to the sword because they refused to support him not to mention since they were Muslim, Skanderbeg regarded them as traitors.

Some Muslims in Pakistan celebrating Ranjit Singh are nothing more than cucks.
The problem with the example is that,
Sikanderbergs army didnt have Muslims.
Nor was he supported by them like Ranjit Singh.

Ranjits major allies were Panjabi Musalman chieftains.

His army had muslims.. he tried to be secular but in the end we have to understand that he himself was supported by sikh misals.. who were essentially kunts.

The Byzantines and the Greeks ruled Anatolia for centuries I never took Alexander and various other greeks as heroes same with the Byzantines. Even if they part of the history of Turkey but I dont see them as heroes neither accept them as part of my heritage.

I don’t know if it’s the same for Turks, but Pakistanis have a very high opinion of Alexander the Great, whom we call Sikander e Azam.

We believe that he is Zulqarnain who was a righteous ruler mentioned in the Quran in Surah Al Kahf.

One of our pre-Islamic heroes, Raja Porus, stopped his expansion at Jhelum in Punjab, which earned the respect of the Greeks and Alexander declared him his equal.

His descendants, Indo-Greeks and Greek-Bactrians ruled the region afterwards until our ancestors, Iranic nomads the Scythians/Sakas, burned those states and cities down and settled our country.

Rofl that's just dumb.

This is actually the major opinion.

Among Muslims, Egyptians and Pakistanis love Alexander the Great the most.

The Iranians and Shias say he was Kurush/Cyrus the Great.

He's respected but not really loved.

How many Pakistanis are named after him, it should tell you how revered he is.

The nine-foot-tall statue of the Sikh ruler at the Mai Jinda’s Haveli.

How can Pakistanis allow this??
IK inlaws love hindus and qadiyanis, but are blood thirsty for any sect. less Muslims they come to know about. Now their new love is Ranjit Singh.
Welcome to naya Pakistan.

If you talk about Islamic justice then why don't you first get Sami Ibrahim his 600000PKR.

He was slapped by a public office holder and as per fatwa of Supreme Court, the chamatee is entitled to 600000PKR.
One wrong does not make another right.

So its all back to square one?

You make a statue the other one makes a bigger one. Its been 2000 years for gods sake. Just let people be
Make Buddha and Shiva statues now.

It was neither Cyrus nor Alexander. One was a Zoroastrian while the other was polytheist. It was somebody else. Someone who might have existed before the recorded history. Recorded history only dates back to 5000 years.
