Libya And Bahrain: A Tale Of Western Hypocrisy

. .
What point are you getting at? What do you expect China to do?

If a resolution is proposed in the UN for intervention or sanction in India, China would vote for it as opposed to America right? In the case of Libya, China agrees with this intervention too, otherwise you would see it veto the resolution, end of the story

So call everyone hypocrite or slave to the oil coming from the GCC countries. Not just the western powers.

It is all just "realpolitik" anyway.

Actually no. I expect China to abstain as well. Unlike how China is portrayed in the Indian media, China believes in nonintervention and in a mutually beneficial relationship with India. Don't let these (sometimes) petty arguments in PDF form an unrealistic opinion of China.

.
the reason china abstained instead of veto the resolution, was because it respected the opinion of the Arab Union, and the neighboring african countries of libya, who supported a "No-Fly Zone" however china still did not agree with the "no-fly zone" and ultimately military intervention, so china abstained instead of veto it..

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against China and always advocate for closer India-China ties. However my view about China isn't just based on arguments on PDF.

China blocked efforts to put sanctions on JuD, Hafiz Saeed

^^ This was the alleged mastermind of the Mumbai terrorist attacks and the organization behind the attacks. But as Chinese-Dragon said, its all "RealPolitik" anyways.

Untill the moment Pakistan - Turkey - Iran - Egypt - Saudia will not start standing up to other muslim countries aid muslims will fall one by one :P

No other country has any Air force if you take out these countries

Its quite pathetic that Pakistan even with its Nuclear weapons , is so scared that it did not had any say in attack on Libya , Pakistan could have just stated no attack on Libya unless there is democratic discussion to stop violence

it's really strange. i was driving home listening to NPR in my car and it seems like the analysis is blaming Pakistani immigrant police forces for the harsh crackdown in bahrain.

something about bahrain would hire pakistani immigrants to work as police because pakistanis are also sunni like the ruling family.

No No No- you can't get a way with that. Yes you guys abstained - but your country feed the coffers of Qaddafi and ran away when the slaughter began. You guys don't care about anything other making a buck. And as posted previously here- have that record in Africa where you support leaders who commit genocide on their own people even today! and are hiding from the Hague indictments.

There were thousands of Indian workers in Libya too, genius.

.
I think Govt of India should have supported the resolution.
Funny thing, Gaddafi said Obama is like his son, and he has respect for him.
And the rebels are from Al Qaida.
He has also moved quite fast on ceasefire.
Seems to be quite smart man, compared to his image.

back to the topic-you cannot compare the situation in libya to bharain......
Bahrain is rightly said to be the most westernised and free of all the gulf states, unemployment is lowest there(somewhere around 5%), the king is not a dictator as could be clearly seen if any of you had bothered to read about all he has done since he came to power, even in the so called violent crackdowns only tear gas and rubber bullets have been used(no live ammunition).....we get worse crackdowns in kashmir. And saudi troops are not invading, they have been invited by the govt to protect them under a defence pact of the gcc.
The protests are sectarian in nature, backed by iran

- While there is no question that there is an element of opportunism in the West's actions, the fault lies with the Arabs and Muslims. If they had stepped in and mediated the conflict, there would be need or pretext for the West to move in. When a situation gets out of control, opportunists always move in.

- All Muslim despots raise the bogeyman of Al Qaeda and the Islamists to discredit any democractic protest. In Bahrain, they blamed Iran. Nobody's buying it. The fact that the Libyan rebels have weapons is not because they are foreign funded, although Egypt is finally supporting them, but because Libyan military personnel switched sides out of conscience.

- Support for Muslim brotherhood means supporting Muslim people -- asking for their rights. It does not mean supporting Muslim tyrants killing their people. Gaddafi is bringing in African mercenaries to shoot at his own people -- that tells us how much support he has within Libya.

- Yes, protestors in Bahrain and Yemen should also have been supported. But just because they were let down doesn't mean we should let the Libyan people die also.
