Rescuecom has published its new computer reliability ratings for the third quarter of 2012, and Lenovo has returned to the top spot among manufacturers. The report, based on data collected from the market shares of PC manufacturers and computer support provided by manufacturers, found the Chinese company's products to be the most reliable, followed by Asus, Samsung, Apple, and Toshiba. For the first quarter of 2012, Lenovo topped the ratings but lost the position to Samsung in the second quarter.

Machines from Lenovo accounted only for 2.1 percent of service calls to 1-800-RESCUE-PC, despite the manufacturer's 8.3 percent share of the United States market. ASUS' machines, with a 5.4 percent market share in the US, accounted for three percent of Rescuecom's computer repair contacts. The two companies scored 402 and 180, respectively, on Rescuecom's reliability score.

Samsung's 1.9 percent share of US computers accounted for 1.2 percent of Rescuecom's service calls, netting it a reliability rating of 168.

Apple remained in the fourth place spot for the third consecutive quarter. The Cupertino company's score has improved from 130 points in the last report to 160 points this time around. Its 12.5 percent market share accounted for 7.8 percent of Rescuecom's repair calls.

The other companies listed were, in order, Toshiba, HP, Dell, Acer, and Sony. Sony computers scored the lowest, with a reliability rating of 26.

Loving my U300S, and also very interested in the Yoga and the Asus Taichi. Funny names, I know :P

I wonder who's gonna make the WingChun

EDIT: WingChun is cantonese, aka YongChun in mandarin, which is also a type of martial art from China. Sorry for the confusions to the mandarin folks in the beginning, forgive me because I'm cantonese 1st xD

why bother with these reports - choose between ASUS/Apple and Lenova if someone gives only 1 for free.

I will tell u how 99.9% of people would choose -

Apple
Asus
Lenova

If we include Toshiba, Sony, Dell, HP and Acer also then the order would be,

Apple
Sony
Toshiba/Asus
Dell
HP
Acer
Lenova

now go and read the report for comical fun

The report indicates the reliability of each laptop manufacturers to date, and has nothing to do with your daddy asking you what laptop would you want him to get you

Which is not happening in India - Lenovo emerges as top PC seller in India, overtakes Dell & HP

now go and read the report for comical fun

Your post is way more fun to read.

People buys Lenovo product because they're cheap, mostly first time laptop buyers.

Lenovo also makes the Thinkpad which most of the business world uses. It is very well made, very reliable and expensive.

Are u trying to troll or just uninformed? I dont know what is going on in India but in Germany the Lenovos are one of the expensiv Notebooks, especially the Thinkspads can be costly. The cheaper ones are Dell and Fujitsu. But maybe Lenovo analyse the income of the population of each country and sell there Notebooks with appropriated costs. So they sell cheap Notebooks in India and merchandise more high quality products in Germany.

I have used many lapys (dell, apple, hp, accer, toshiba, HCL), and the worst was "made in china DELL laptop"....Dell has really spoiled its reputation perhaps by compromising on quality checks to make it more cheaper.. Dell is now out from my list.. in fact, the company for which I work, its an European MNC, earlier we used to use Dell but now all lapys are HP.

I dont care if Leonvo is better but really wanted to vent out my frustration for DEL!!!!

Dell sucks!

Every manufacturers has cheap laptops, especially HP, Gateway, and E-Machine. People chose Lenovo because of the quality it offers. The U series ultrabooks from Lenovo isn't cheap, it's actually a bit more expensive compared to other manufacturers in terms of spec-to-spec comparison. But people still went for Lenovo due to it's reliability and built quality. There's a reason why Lenovo is the biggest PC maker now.

sometimes money is a constraint and you have to buy Cheap.

But if that is not the case no one buy Lenova over the others.

Cheap and reliable, yes.

But price doesn't determine reliability.

Couldn't agree more, but has nothing to do with Made-in-China. Most Lenovos are designed in China, except for some of it's Think series, and it's made there. And they have the most reliable laptops.

Not to mention the HPs that your company are using is made-in-China too.

Cheap and reliable, yes.

No I meant only cheap when u put the link for highest selling in India. Only because of cheap price it is the highest seller in India(if it is) but not because of reliability

Couldn't agree more, but has nothing to do with Made-in-China. Lenovo is flat-out made/designed in China, except for some of it's Think series. And they have the most reliable laptops.

if u read my comment carefully, I raised a concern abt DELL made in CHINA....!! not china as specific, in general Chinese products are cheap and crap..but since its Dell brand, we do expect some standard no matter where they produce it!! Chinese still remain junk for me, if they are not related to Us or Japan!

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Then I guess the whole world doesn't care much about reliability/quality too, since Lenovo just surpassed HP as the biggest PC maker in the world.

If you read your own comment carefully, you'll realize you're basically saying if Dell were to be made somewhere else instead of China, it would've had much better quality, when the irony here is that every HP laptops your company is using is made in China.

Chinese still remain junk for me, if they are not related to Us or Japan!

Keep deluding yourself. India couldn't live w/out those junks, and we will keep treating India like a trashcan by flooding your market with more junks.
